Fantasy Tip: Fiers ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) was knocked around in relief Monday but has a decent matchup. He's worth SP2 consideration on FantasyScore.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 21:53:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Correa ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has hit safely in eight straight games, going 11-for-32 (.344) with five homers and seven RBIs during the impressive run. FantasyScore players should be using him nightly for power at the shortstop spot.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 21:52:49 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Castro ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is hitting .385 (10-for-26) during his current seven-game hitting streak. Keep rolling with him in FantasyScore until he cools off significantly.

Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers allowed six earned runs, seven hits and a walk while retiring just one batter in a loss Monday, Aug. 3, against the Texas Rangers. The team optioned McCullers to Class AAA Fresno after the disastrous start.
Fantasy Tip: With McCullers on the way out, and Mike Fiers forced into action, Dan Straily will come up from the Grizzlies Tuesday to start. McCullers might be back when rosters expand Sept. 1 unless necessity presents an earlier opportunity.

Houston Astros SP Mike Fiers was used in relief Monday, Aug. 3, against the Texas Rangers after SP Lance McCullers bombed out. Fiers will obviously not make his scheduled start Tuesday, Aug. 4. The team will recall SP Dan Straily to start the game.
Fantasy Tip: Fiers ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is a decent FantasyScore option for his K/9 (strikeouts to nine innings) ratio, but he was needed in relief so he likely won't work again until the weekend.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 14:00:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has gone 94 plate appearances without hitting a home run, and he has just eight runs, five doubles, five RBI and a .614 OPS over the 23-game stretch. He is a risky FantasyScore play Monday, albeit one with upside. Carter ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is currently 3-for-40 at the dish with two of the hits being of the home run variety. Similar to Valbuena, Carter is a hit-or-miss daily option. Each projects to lose fantasy value if they enter into a platoon at first base, which is a legitimate possibility.

Houston Astros SP Mark Appel matched a career-high 10 strikeouts during his outing with Class AAA Fresno Saturday, Aug. 1. His pitching coach Ace Adams noted Appel's fastball command, and the groove he is in on the mound. "His stuff is major league. His movement is late. His changeup has a real good zoom to it at the end. He's got good arm speed. His slider is nasty. He's a major-leaguer waiting to happen."
Fantasy Tip: Appel could receive a cup of coffee with the Astros down the stretch as an extra arm out of the bullpen or spot starter. Still, he'll have to continue his recent success, as there have been plenty of peaks and valleys for the 24-year-old hurler during his path to the majors. He is worth monitoring in all formats, and owners in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues could consider stashing Appel at any point.

Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh moved into tie for the American League lead with 13 wins, allowing one run on eight hits and striking out six over seven innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks Sunday, Aug. 2.
Fantasy Tip: McHugh ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) keeps winning, but his 4.27 ERA isn't exactly impressive. The matchup has to be friendly for McHugh to be worth taking a chance on at FantasyScore.

Houston Astros OF Jake Marisnick will start in right field and hit ninth in the order Sunday, Aug. 2, against the Arizona Diamondbacks and LHP Robbie Ray. OF Colby Rasmus isn't in the starting lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Marisnick ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has two multi-hit games in his last six starts, with two extra-base hits in that time as well. Marisnick doesn't have much home run power, but he's a quality GPP play.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 09:52:39 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) doesn't have the conventional upside of a first baseman, but he'll offer some cap relief to FantasyScore owners looking to invest at other positions.
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 20:52:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Correa ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has 12 homers in 46 games, and he has been one of the top options at shortstop at FantasyScore since being called up.
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 20:46:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Conger ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has a .508 slugging percentage, and he has shown solid pop when he has played. He is worth taking a chance on as a source of cap relief at FantasyScore when he is in the lineup.
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 12:38:50 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Lowrie ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) was hitless in three at-bats in his first game back Thursday, July 30, and he has just one hit in 10 career at-bats versus Hellickson. Avoid using him today in FantasyScore.
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 12:28:16 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Conger ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is batting .327 with four home runs and nine RBIs in just 55 at-bats versus right-handed pitching this season, making him a solid choice for FantasyScore owners looking for an inexpensive catching option tonight.
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 10:49:48 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Carter ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is an inexpensive source of power but his .184 average scares many fantasy owners away and makes him in a risky play in FantasyScore.
