Fantasy Tip: Thompson was a putrid 2-for-26 since June 20, so this was an important performance to get him back on track. The former second-round draft pick had a nice run going for awhile a few weeks ago, and while he's fallen far off that pace, he can still be useful in some deep fantasy formats. At the very least, he's capable of being a cheap source for power.

Los Angeles Dodgers SS Corey Seager went 2-for-4 with his 17th home run of the season Thursday, June 30, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He finished with two runs scored and two RBI for the contest, and he also drew a walk as well. The homer was his eighth of the month.
Fantasy Tip: Seager has quickly established himself as one of the game's best rising young shortstops, and with a .299/.359/.540 line go alongside solid power numbers, the 22-year-old could wind up an All-Star in his first big league season.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Kenta Maeda improved his record to 7-5 after winning his start Thursday, June 30, over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Japanese right-hander went six innings, yielding only a single run on three hits and two walks. He also struck out six.
Fantasy Tip: Maeda hit a rough patch last month after a terrific start to the season, and today's productive outing further proves he's far and away from that. In fact, the 28-year-old has now allowed two earned runs or less in six of his past seven assignments. With quality overall numbers and a respectable strikeout rate, Maeda is continually proving that he can be a useful commodity in any fantasy league.

Fantasy Tip: He'll take Clayton Kershaw's (back) place in the rotation for now. Norris has always been a very mediocre pitcher, but he had a great June with Atlanta (4-1, 2.15 ERA, .200 opponent's average). The trade to L.A. puts him with a contending team, but it doesn't do much to boost his fantasy value otherwise. Continue to view him as more of a matchup play in deep mixed and NL-only leagues, and his first one with the Dodgers is risky against the Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Phew. Kershaw owners just took a collective sigh of relief with that news. Anytime a fantasy ace is on the DL it's big news, but Kershaw was having a season for the ages. All his owners can do now is sit back and hope he returns shortly after the All-Star break and that the issue doesn't affect his legitimate numbers in the second half.

Fantasy Tip: This is a good move for the Dodgers and Norris, who has been spectacular in June. He has a 2.08 ERA and 29 K's in 30 1/3 innings. The ballparks are pretty comparable, and he'll be an attractive NL-only pickup with the team around him. The opening in Atlanta could be filled by prospect Tyrell Jenkins. He'll probably need some time to be stretched out, and he hasn't been very good. However, he's a developing arm that could be worth speculating on in NL-only leagues as well.

Updating earlier reports, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (back) received an epidural in his back. Epidurals are usually performed to combat inflammation caused by bulging discs. Sometimes the inflammation is what is pushing on the nerve and not the actual disc.
Fantasy Tip: This is a really good piece of information by Ken Rosenthal, which lends us to believe Kershaw has a bulging disc. The severity of that bulging disc is not known, though. The epidural could clear up what ails him, or a more aggressive method could be required. We'll know more in a few days after the injection takes effect. Keep Kershaw stashed in all formats. Brock Stewart K'd seven in five innings in his first start, but he allowed five runs as well. He's an NL-only option in Kershaw's place for now.

Fantasy Tip: Before you sound the alarms, this could just be a safeguard to give him some extra rest before the All-Star break. Brock Stewart showed flashes in his debut despite giving up five runs in five innings. He fanned seven in the outing, and he could see a start or two before the break. He's an NL-only add right now. For Kershaw owners, keep an eye out to see if he just needs rest, an epidural or scans show something more significant. Obviously, stash him in all formats.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw (back) make be out longer than the 15 days on the disabled list. The Dodgers initially hoped Kershaw's would be able to return after the All-Star break, but manager Dave Roberts has backed off that now.
Fantasy Tip: This is big news. Kershaw was having a year for the ages with a league-leading 1.79 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and absurd 16.11 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He had 145 strikeouts and just nine walks in 121 innings. Obviously, keep him stashed everywhere and hope for a quick return. The L.A. rotation has been a mess other than he and Kenta Maeda. Brock Stewart, who looked very mediocre in his major league debut Wednesday, could stick in the rotation. Brandon McCarthy and Hyun-Jin Ryu are nearing returns from the DL, too, and would be welcomed back. None of those options other than maybe Ryu are very attractive to fantasy owners, though.

Fantasy Tip: Puig has had a disappointing year for fantasy owners, but since coming back from the DL for a hamstring strain June 21, he has gone 9-for-27 (.333) with a home run and three RBI. The power-speed combination remains, so he's still attractive in the majority of fantasy formats, and he could be an under-the-radar DFS pick today.

Fantasy Tip: Thompson has hit a wall this month, and he's hitting just .118 (2-for-17) the last week. He's not a good start against Zach Davies today.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart, who was 8-3 with a 1.47 ERA across three minor-league levels, had a disastrous second inning where he gave up all five runs. He bounced back to post three scoreless frames after that, but it remains to be seen what the Dodgers do with a spot in their rotation that has given them nothing but trouble. Ignore Stewart for now.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez didn't like a call on a check swing and let the third base umpire know about it, which resulted in his fifth career ejection. Expect him to be back in the lineup tomorrow.
Wed, 29 Jun 2016 21:04:15 -0700
Fantasy Tip: This was a little payback for Guerra, who was touched up for a season-high five runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Dodgers on June 16, and it put the exclamation point on a strong month: 2-0, 3.00 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 24 K's in 33 IP. While still a fringe option in standard leagues, Guerra deserves a spot in all deeper mixed setups.
Wed, 29 Jun 2016 17:19:07 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hernandez has seen his playing time reduced drastically, so he can likely be left to the waiver wire now in most formats. Scott Van Slyke and Howie Kendrick are serving as outfield depth in the meantime but are mainly useful in daily play in the right matchups.
