Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers RP Corey Knebel (oblique) is slated to make two rehab appearances for Class A Brevard County and two appearances for Class AAA Colorado Springs before being activated from the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Knebel has not pitched at all this year but was effective in a setup role for Milwaukee last season, posting a 3.22 ERA in 48 appearances with 58 strikeouts over 50 1/3 innings. The 24-year-old right-hander could be useful in NL-only fantasy leagues once he is healthy because of his high strikeout totals.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza (lat) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Class A Wisconsin Tuesday, May 31. If all goes well, he is hoping to return to the parent club's starting rotation June 14.
Fantasy Tip: Garza went 6-14 with a 5.63 ERA in 26 games (25 starts) for the Brewers in 2015 but is likely to step into a starting role once he is healthy enough to return, which speaks volumes about the rest of the team's rotation. If he performs well in his first few outings, the 32-year-old right-hander could be worthy of consideration for NL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Alfredo Simon Saturday, May 28. OF Alex Presley will bat seventh and play left field. In addition, 2B Scooter Gennett and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis are back in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Presley is 3-for-7 with a home run and two RBI versus Simon in his career but his overall numbers this season (.229-3-10) are nothing to write home about. He should be viewed as a flier option in daily fantasy contests capable of providing salary cap relief.

Milwaukee Brewers SS Jonathan Villar collected three hits in four at-bats, scored twice, drove in two and stole two bases against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, May 27. He's now batting .306 on the year and leads the majors with 17 steals.
Fantasy Tip: Originally Villar was just supposed to keep the position warm for Orlando Arcia, but he may be working his way into the team's long-term plan. He's hitting .357 in May (35-for-98) with 15 RBI and an MLB-best 12 steals -- no one else in baseball has more than eight this month. He has even started to display a little extra-base pop with 11 doubles. Villar is worth adding now regardless of format.

Fantasy Tip: Hill has regrouped nicely after a very slow start. He's 27-for-75 this month as part of a respectable .360-5-12 line. While Hill remains of the fringes of relevancy in mixed leagues, the veteran should be owned in NL-only formats.

Fantasy Tip: Knebel has yet to pitch this year due to injury but was solid with a 3.22 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 10.4 K/9 in 50 1/3 innings in 2015. He has strikeout stuff worthy of a ninth-inning gig, but he'll be in a setup role with Jeremy Jeffress locking down the ninth this season. Knebel is a saves target in NL-only leagues but can also be useful for his ratios when healthy.

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers RP Will Smith (knee) has already thrown twice for Class A Brevard County and will pitch for Class AA Biloxi Sunday, May 29, and then throw a simulated inning or two Monday, May 30. Manager Craig Counsell said Smith will come off the disabled list at the latest Thursday, June 2.
Fantasy Tip: Smith was expected to enter the year as Milwaukee's closer, but his injury changed things and allowed Jeremy Jeffress to take the role and run with it. If you're chasing saves, Smith should be scooped up now, but he'll likely start out in a setup role with Jeffress excelling in the ninth this year.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis are not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP John Lamb Friday, May 27. 3B Hernan Perez is starting at third base and batting second, while OF Keon Broxton is in center field and hitting eighth. 3B Aaron Hill moves over to the keystone.
Fantasy Tip: Lamb doesn't strike fear into his opponents, so Perez, Hill and Broxton could return decent value in daily leagues. Perez has the most upside in the two-hole, and he's hitting .291 (16-for-55) with three home runs and eight RBI. Broxton's main asset is his speed, so he doesn't really fit the daily landscape all that well.

Fantasy Tip: Braun appears to be fine physically after recently suffering from a back issue. The slugger carries a .361/.427/.599 slash line with nine homers and 30 RBI into the game as one of the more productive outfielders in the game this year. Start him confidently everywhere.

Milwaukee Brewers RP Will Smith (knee) is expected to get in back-to-back outings for Class AAA Colorado Springs before rejoining the major league club. He's already pitched twice for Class A Brevard County.
Fantasy Tip: Smith has been on the DL since tearing his lateral collateral ligament late in spring training, but it looks like he's getting very close to a return. Unfortunately for the hard-throwing southpaw, it doesn't look like he'll get the chance to close, which appeared to be the case before going down with injury, as Jeremy Jeffress has been tremendous in the role. However, he can still be useful in leagues that score holds.

Fantasy Tip: His first save could be written off as a fluke because the game went 13 innings, but it is tougher to ignore this six-out effort. Torres looks like the next in line if Jeremy Jeffress struggles, so he could be worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.
Thu, 26 May 2016 21:30:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Braun has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games, and he is hitting .383 during the stretch. Take advantage of him in daily formats while he is red hot.

Milwaukee Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy (rest) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 26. C Martin Maldonado is starting in his place behind the plate and batting eighth opposite Atlanta Braves SP Matt Wisler.
Fantasy Tip: Maldonado has typically been one of the more underrated backup catchers in recent years, but that hasn't been the case in 2016. With just two hits in 28 at-bats this season, daily owners can immediately forget about using Maldonado, especially being pitted against a surging pitcher like Wisler. Lucroy should be back in the club's next game.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta has a 6.99 ERA, a .363 opponent's average against, 20 walks and eight home runs allowed in 46 1/3 innings this year. He has gone fewer than six innings in seven of his nine starts.
Fantasy Tip: Peralta should be left to the waiver wire in all mixed leagues. If he continues to struggle, he could be booted from the rotation soon. He's striking out an underwhelming 6.0 hitters per nine innings and walking 3.9 per nine, which is a deadly combination. He has a chance to rebound against a weak-hitting Braves lineup tonight, though, which could make him a successful deep sleeper in daily games.
Wed, 25 May 2016 21:54:05 -0700
Milwaukee Brewers SP Junior Guerra tossed five shutout innings Wednesday, May 25, against the Atlanta Braves, en route to picking up a no-decision. He allowed four hits, four walks and struck out six.
Fantasy Tip: Guerra is making a case to latch onto fantasy rosters, as in five starts, he's 3-0 with a 3.30 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, while accumulating 30 strikeouts over 30 total innings pitched. He's also been pretty consistent thus far, having gone at least five innings in each outing. The Brewers rookie is worth a flier in NL-only leagues at this point, and still has potential to make it in mixed formats as well.
