Milwaukee Brewers news, rumors and injuries

Fantasy Tip: Interestingly enough, Villar was picked off, had the out call overturned to safe, and then was picked off again. Oh, well. Everyone has off nights. Villar is still pacing the majors in stolen bases and has been one of the biggest fantasy surprises of 2016. Keep deploying him in your lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Like every Brewers outfielder not named Ryan Braun, Presley did little at the plate, and the team decided they'd seen enough. Elmore was hitting .320 at Colorado Springs, but he's a career .215 hitter in 340 major-league at-bats and is of no interest.

Fantasy Tip: After blanking the A's for 6 2/3 innings on June 8, Anderson was 4-6 with a 4.21 ERA on the year. In three starts since he's 0-2 with a 12.71 ERA and a 2.29 WHIP. There have been times Anderson has pitched like a deep mixed-league option, but his inconsistency makes him best suited for NL-only leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Flores is sitting due to the lefty pitcher on the mound for the Dodgers. Perez doesn't make a bad start if you're looking for an outfield body in DFS formats. He has little power (.282-3-16) but decent speed (eight stolen bases).

Fantasy Tip: Nieuwenhuis is out with Urias pitching for the Dodgers, so the lefty vs. lefty matchup is avoided. Broxton has little fantasy value and strikes out way too much for fantasy owners' tastes. Broxton's value mainly comes from the speed he possesses, so he may be a low-end option if you're looking for speed.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett is not starting Tuesday, June 28, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. 2B Jake Elmore replaces Gennett and will bat seventh against Dodgers SP Julio Urias. This is Elmore's first game with the Brewers.
Fantasy Tip: Gennett is out against Urias, a lefty pitcher. This allows Aaron Hill to the move to the two-spot and boosts his fantasy value. Elmore, who hit .320-2-19 at Class AAA Colorado Springs, could be an option against left-handed hitters, but it is too soon to tell. Keep away from Elmore in DFS formats, but it is okay to think of him as a low-end DFS guy when needed and someone to stash away in deeper leagues.

Fantasy Tip: It is safe to say that Braun's foot wasn't bothering him enough to slow him down, and he should be safe to deploy in all formats going forward.

Milwaukee Brewers OFs Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Ramon Flores are back in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark Sunday, June 26. Nieuwenhuis will bat sixth and play center field, while Flores will bat eighth and play right field.
Fantasy Tip: Nieuwenhuis is batting just .228 with two home runs and four RBI over the last four weeks, with 23 strikeouts in 57 at-bats, while Flores is batting .271 with six RBI during the same stretch. Neither player should be viewed as anything more than salary cap relief in daily fantasy games.

Fantasy Tip: The 21-year-old Ray hit .310 with 15 home runs, 60 RBI and 44 stolen bases during his junior year for Louisville. His progress throughout the minors should be monitored by owners in fantasy dynasty leagues.

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is back in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Saturday, June 25. In addition, INF/OF Hernan Perez will bat sixth and play right field, with OF Keon Broxton batting eighth and playing center field. OFs Ramon Flores and Kirk Nieuwenhuis are receiving the day off.
Fantasy Tip: Perez has cooled off after a hot start at the plate in 2016 and is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief in daily fantasy games. Broxton is 8-for-57 (.140) with 31 strikeouts and should be avoided in all formats.

Fantasy Tip: His numbers have been improving across the board in recent weeks, and Davis should be owned and starting in most mixed formats.
Fri, 24 Jun 2016 14:07:55 -0700
Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Friday, June 24. OF Alex Presley will start in left field and is batting eighth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Presley is hitting only .154 in limited playing time this month, so owners should avoid him in most fantasy leagues.
Fri, 24 Jun 2016 09:19:53 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Perez has cooled off in the month of June and is hitting .233 overall in June with no home runs, four RBI and one steal. He's a reserve outfielder and should only be owned in the deepest of NL-only leagues for his occasional stolen base attempts.

Milwaukee Brewers RP Tyler Thornburg filled in for RP Jeremy Jeffress (eye) as the team's closer Wednesday, June 22, against the Oakland Athletics, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings for his second save of the year.
Fantasy Tip: Jeffress was unavailable this afternoon due to an eye infection, and it's unknown if he'll have to miss any additional time. If he remains out in the coming days or beyond, Thornburg is worth going after, as he's one of those current late-inning relievers around baseball who could probably excel as a closer, if given the chance.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Junior Guerra snapped his five-start winless streak Wednesday, June 22, by beating the Oakland Athletics. The rookie right-hander spun seven strong innings, surrendering just two runs on five hits and a walk. He also racked up eight strikeouts.
Fantasy Tip: An impressive bounce-back effort from Guerra, who gave up a career-high five runs his last time out, but responded nicely here with one of his best starts to date. He's been mostly steady since being inserted into the Brewers rotation in the beginning of May, and can maybe be an asset in NL-only formats, as well as deep mixed leagues. He's worth a shot based on what he's shown thus far.
