New York Mets SS Wilmer Flores is set to take over as the starter at shortstop with SS Ruben Tejada's (leg) season over. The Mets also added SS prospect Matthew Reynolds to their playoff roster for the division series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reynolds could become the second player in modern history to make his major league debut in the playoffs. He hit .267 with six home runs and 65 RBI in 445 at-bats for Class AAA Las Vegas in 2015.
Fantasy Tip: Flores ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is a downgrade defensively but has much more pop in his bat than Tejada. Flores hit .263 (127-for-483) with 16 home runs and 59 RBI for the Mets this year. He faces a lefty in Game 3 of the division series tonight, and he had a .310 average and seven homers against them this year, making him worth consideration as a sleeper pick.

New York Mets OF Juan Lagares is starting in center field and batting eighth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson in Game 3 of the National League Division Series Monday, Oct. 12. OF Michael Cuddyer is not in the starting lineup Monday.
Fantasy Tip: Lagares ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) started just 17 games after Saturday, Aug. 1, but he played well when called upon and posted a respectable .287/.326/.471 slash line over the span. FantasyScore players shouldn't view him as anything other than a true flier, though.

Fantasy Tip: Tejada is a defensive specialist that had only three home runs in 2015. You should avoid him in all shallow mixed drafts next season.
Mon, 12 Oct 2015 10:43:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Tejada's season is over after hitting .261 (94-for-360) with just three home runs and 28 RBI. He's more known for his defensive work than his bat, which basically only makes him a target in NL-only or really deep mixed leagues in a middle infield slot.

Fantasy Tip: Matz ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) may have a short leash as relievers may be ready after a few innings to step in. The best thing to do may be to stay away.

New York Mets SS Ruben Tejada (fibula) suffered a fractured right fibula during Game 2 of the National League Division Series Saturday, Oct. 10, when Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Chase Utley slid into him on a play at second base. He will miss the remainder of the postseason.
Fantasy Tip: Wilmer Flores ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) will serve as the Mets' starting shortstop the rest of the way. He went 11-for-21 with two doubles and five RBIs against the Dodgers during the regular season, making him a player you may want to consider using in FantasyScore for the rest of this series.

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Division Series Friday, Oct. 9. It is only the second time this season he struck out three times in a game.
Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has played very well since joining the Mets but was facing one of the best pitchers in MLB in Game 1. Cespedes should still be a starting option on FantasyScore because he is one of the top offensive weapons in the team's starting lineup.

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom pitched seven scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Division Series Friday, Oct. 9. He allowed five hits during the game while striking out 13 batters and walking one batter.
Fantasy Tip: deGrom ($8,500, 17.0% of cap) continued his terrific season with another solid pitching performance in the playoffs. He likely will receiving another start and could face the Dodgers again, which makes him a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Confirming a previous report, New York Mets OF Michael Conforto will start in left field in Game 2 of the National League Division Series against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke Saturday, Oct. 10, according to manager Terry Collins.
Fantasy Tip: Conforto ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) hit .275 with nine home runs and 26 RBIs in 160 at-bats versus right-handed pitching during the regular season, although this is not an ideal matchup in FantasyScore for him. Michael Cuddyer ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is expected to be the starter in left field whenever the Mets are facing a left-handed starting pitcher.

New York Mets SP Steven Matz (back) was included on the 25-man roster for the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Matz has been nursing a sore upper back for the past two weeks, but he pitched a simulated game Thursday, which gave the club enough confidence to include him on their playoff roster.
Fantasy Tip: Matz ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) has shown well in his limited action at the highest level, however injuries have been a serious limitation in his early career. And while he'll be a risky FantasyScore start, Matz owns an impressive 4-0 record with a 2.27 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP and a 8.6 K/9 over his six outings this season.

New York Mets OF Michael Cuddyer is expected to receive most of the starts in left field over OF Michael Conforto during the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, since the Mets are expected to face primarily left-handed starting pitching.
Fantasy Tip: The only time Conforto ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) might crack the lineup during the NLDS is when the Mets face right-handed SP Zack Greinke, so he should be avoided in FantasyScore. The other Dodger starting pitching options for the NLDS (Clayton Kershaw, Brett Anderson and possibly Alex Wood) are southpaws. Cuddyer ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) hit .273 with one home run and five RBIs in 99 at-bats against lefties during the regular season but went hitless in eight at-bats versus the Dodgers this year.
Thu, 08 Oct 2015 09:58:58 -0700
New York Mets SP Steven Matz (back) didn't have any setbacks during his simulated game Thursday, Oct. 8, and he said afterward that he felt fine. He threw 80 pitches over five innings, including 50 for strikes, and he hit between 93-95 mph on the radar gun with his heater. Matz gave up four hits and two runs during the session. The team will wait to see how his back responds Friday, Oct. 9, before penciling him into the rotation for the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. If he's healthy, Matz is expected to start Game 4 Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Fantasy Tip: Matz ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) has been impressive in his rookie season. However, he hasn't started a game since Sept. 24 and will be facing a Dodgers team that is very good against left-handed pitchers. Matz has plenty of risk surrounding him if he makes the playoff rotation.

New York Mets OF Michael Cuddyer will start over OF Michael Conforto in left field in Game 1 of the division series against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Clayton Kershaw Friday, Oct. 9, according to manager Terry Collins.
Fantasy Tip: With the Mets likely facing three lefties in this five-game series, Conforto ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is a bad play on FantasyScore. Cuddyer ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) hit .273 (27-for-99) against lefties this year but had just one of his 10 homers off them.
Wed, 07 Oct 2015 09:41:05 -0700
New York Mets SS Ruben Tejada is expected to be the starter at shortstop for Game 1 of the division series against the Los Angeles Dodgers Friday, Oct. 9, according to manager Terry Collins. SS Wilmer Flores (illness) lost 10 pounds over a five-day span recently while dealing with strep throat. Tejada is batting .357 with three walks in 17 career plate appearances against Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.
Fantasy Tip: Despite Tejada's ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) good numbers against Kershaw, he's a big gamble on FantasyScore and should only be used for salary cap relief. Flores ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) should be avoided altogether.
Tue, 06 Oct 2015 10:11:20 -0700
New York Mets SP Steven Matz (back) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Oct. 6, and pitching coach Dan Warthen said it was successful. Matz is expected to be on track to throw around 90 pitches in the instructional league Thursday, Oct. 8. Matz received an injection last Friday to try to calm the spasms in his upper back. The Mets are hoping Matz can pitch in Game 4 of the division series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen if Matz ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) can make the Mets playoff rotation. If he does, he'll still be a pretty big risk as a rookie hurler coming off injury. The Dodgers also had the fourth-highest OPS against lefties (.756) in 2015.
