New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) began the first of five straight rigorous days of baseball workouts Tuesday, Aug. 4. He's getting closer to playing in his first minor league rehab game, too. Wright took batting practice Tuesday and was happy with how it went. Manager Terry Collins sees Wright returning to hit second in the batting order. Wright isn't sure how many rehab at-bats he'll need in the minors.
Fantasy Tip: It's impossible to predict when Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) will return to the Mets' lineup, but you should check your league's waiver wire to see if he's available. Expecting him to hit for plenty of power upon his return might be foolish, but he could be valuable to owners in most leagues in a lineup that will look much stronger with him in it.

New York Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes is willing to stay in New York for the long term, although in all likelihood he will be a rental for the Mets in 2015. "This is something I can't control," Cespedes said through an interpreter. "I don't know what the front office is thinking about. But with what I see so far, I would love for everything to work out and stay as a Met for a long, long time, because I like the atmosphere." Cespedes' contract states he must be released by the Mets before free agency begins if he is to work out a long-term extension with them.
Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has four hits in his first 12 at-bats with the Mets, including four RBI and three doubles. His fantasy value figured to take a slight hit with the move to a more pitcher-friendly environment than Detroit, but it should be minimal. He continues to be a solid daily play almost always.

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy and OF Kelly Johnson are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Brad Hand Tuesday, Aug. 4. 3B Juan Uribe is starting at third base and hitting third, while SS Wilmer Flores receives the start at second base and is hitting sixth.
Fantasy Tip: Against the lefty Hand, both Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) and Flores ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) are worth consideration as sleeper plays and salary cap relief. Uribe is hitting .291 (16-for-55) with five of his nine home runs against southpaws, and Flores has a .303 average (20-for-66) with four of his 11 home runs against lefties.

Fantasy Tip: Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is confident he will return to play for the Mets this year. Just when exactly that'll be is a mystery, though. Hang onto him in the majority of formats, just don't expect a ton of fantasy contributions from him once he returns.

New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon allowed just one earned runs, seven hits and no walks with five strikeouts over eight innings in a win Monday, Aug. 3, against the Miami Marlins. Colon entered the game 0-6 with a 6.16 ERA over his past seven starts.
Fantasy Tip: Colon ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has struggled lately, but this is a good sign of things to come. FantasyScore players can trust him again, especially if the Mets stay hot and he continues to get amazing run support.

Fantasy Tip: The doubles were d'Arnaud's ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) first hits in three games since coming off the 15-day disabled list July 31. It took a few games to get his timing back, but it appears safe to trust him again in FantasyScore.

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto belted his first major league home run Monday, Aug. 3, against the Miami Marlins, finishing with three RBIs. He finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a walk with two strikeouts. He is the first major league play since Joe Marty (Chicago Cubs, 1937) with two games of at least three runs scored and three RBIs in his first seven career games.
Fantasy Tip: Conforto ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is an exciting player worth a look in FantasyScore since he comes with a mid-level price tag and a decent amount of power upside.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:21:08 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) had just one hit in seven at-bats in his first two games with the Mets, but this breakout performance is sure to excite FantasyScore players going forward.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 20:20:31 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Granderson ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is 23-for-70 (.329) with five doubles, four homers, 11 RBIs and 14 runs scored over the past 17 games to raise his average from .243 to .258 since the All-Star break. He is a fabulous FantasyScore option at a mid-level price.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 15:45:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Duda ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) had three multi-home run games in that stretch, and he sits at 21 for the season. While strikeouts are an issue for Duda, few players have an equally high upside at the moment.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 13:33:19 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Tejada ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and will return to the lineup soon. Flores ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is hitting .251 this season with 11 home runs and 42 RBI this season and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 13:18:45 -0700
New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy will start at third base against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Monday, Aug. 3, and is batting second in the lineup. OF Kelly Johnson will start at second base and is batting sixth in the lineup. 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been playing at different positions but remains in the lineup. He has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last nine games with six RBI in that span. He could be a solid option for owners on FantasyScore. Johnson ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has only four hits in six games since joining the Mets and is not a great option.

New York Mets OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis (neck, shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, Aug. 2, because of neck and should discomfort. The team also recalled OF Michael Conforto from Class AAA Las Vegas.
Fantasy Tip: Nieuwenhuis ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will be sidelined for several weeks, so owners should avoid him while he is out. Conforto ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should see some playing time while he is with the Mets and could be an option on FantasyScore against certain matchups.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 06:05:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Conforto hit just .211 with zero home runs through 23 plate appearances with the Mets. He'll almost definitely be back in the majors once rosters expand, but owners will now know to temper their expectations.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 06:01:55 -0700
New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) will travel with the team to Miami and continue his workouts. Wright will soon begin rehab games, and manager Terry Collins said there's no question Wright will play again this season.
Fantasy Tip: Wright has played in just eight games this season. Owners with the roster space could add Wright out of speculation, but they should hold their expectations in check upon his eventual return.
