Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players would be wise to give d'Arnaud ($3,100; 6.2% of cap) at least one or two full games to prove his health without any setbacks before pulling the trigger on him.

Updating a previous report, New York Mets 2B Wilmer Flores and SP Zack Wheeler are staying put, as a deal previously agreed upon Wednesday, July 29, for Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez has fallen through. General manager Sandy Alderson said "there is no trade" for Gomez and that a deal "will not transpire."
Fantasy Tip: Flores ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) could still be moved in another deal, and as such he is a risky FantasyScore play in the coming days as he could be a late scratch or early removal from a game.

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers OF Carlos Gomez is staying put, as the previously agreed upon deal for 2B Wilmer Flores and SP Zack Wheeler has fallen through. General manager Sandy Alderson said Wednesday, July 29, "there is no trade" for Gomez and that a deal "will not transpire."
Fantasy Tip: So much for that. Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) is still a risky FantasyScore play in the coming days, as he is clearly on the trade block and could be dealt. He could be late scratch or early removal from a game, costing Fantasy Score players.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) returns to the Big Apple for his second tour of duty with the Mets. He is likely to serve as the regular left fielder while Michael Cuddyer ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is on the DL and could move over to center field when he returns to action. Wheeler, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, was expendable due to the team's excess of quality starting pitching. Ruben Tejada ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) or Juan Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) could see regular playing time at shortstop due to Flores' departure, with Uribe being the slightly better FantasyScore option.

Fantasy Tip: Entering play Wednesday, July 29, Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) was hitting .266 with eight home runs and 43 RBIs through 73 games. He is currently in the third year of a four-year contract worth $28.3 million and is scheduled to become a free agent following the 2016 season.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has game-changing upside in both the real and fake game, and despite his down 2015 season, he should be viewed as a high-end outfielder in all formats. There are plenty of rumors flying around right now, though, so don't make any hasty fantasy decisions before there are official confirmations. For the year, Gomez has 42 runs, eight home runs, 43 RBI, seven stolen bases and a .266/.332/.429 slash line over 73 games.

Fantasy Tip: Rumors are flying, and fantasy owners will want to avoid making hasty decisions and wait for official confirmations. Cespedes ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is having a solid season and returning nice numbers across four categories. He has 59 runs, 17 home runs and 58 RBI with a .289/.321/.500 slash line. Leaving a strong Detroit lineup will likely hurt his fantasy stock, though.
Wed, 29 Jul 2015 16:17:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Parra ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) has been one of the best hitters in the game since mid-May. He has 45 runs, nine home runs, 25 RBI, seven stolen bases and a .343/.391/.545 slash line over his past 70 games. He is expected to be dealt before the trade deadline, and the impact to his fantasy value will largely depend on where he lands.

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto has garnered the interest of manager Terry Collins, and Conforto is batting fifth against San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross Wednesday, July 29. "He's a lot more comfortable than I thought he might be here," Collins said. "You can tell he knows what he's doing when he's got that bat in his hands. When he gets in that batter's box, he's got really, really good plate discipline ... I think he's handled himself very well, I think he's a guy that's gonna be a real good player at this level -- I mean a real good player."
Fantasy Tip: Conforto ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) will have every opportunity to make a lasting impression in fantasy circles this season. The lineup mantra for the Mets right now is "hit or you sit," so as long as Conforto shows more of the same, he'll be starting. Still, the rookie has 15 plate appearances at the highest level after skipping the Class AAA level. He is worth a speculative add in deep leagues, but keep your expectations in check.

New York Mets SS Ruben Tejada is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. SS Wilmer Flores is starting at shortstop and batting seventh, and OF Kelly Johnson is starting at second base and batting third against San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross Wednesday.
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Tejada ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday, and in seasonal leagues, he is only an option in cavernous mixed and NL-only formats. Flores ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore, and Johnson ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) could receive a nice fantasy boost if he sees everyday at-bats and earns eligibility at second base. Keep an eye on Johnson's usage in the field. Neither he or Flores stand out as strong FantasyScore plays Wednesday.
Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:07:01 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Plawecki ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. He remains a low-end catcher in all fantasy leagues, and he should be reserved for NL-only formats at this point. Recker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is batting .130 this season, and for comparison sake, Mets SP Bartolo Colon is batting .139. Aim higher than Recker in FantasyScore contests Wednesday.
Wed, 29 Jul 2015 13:24:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Norris ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. His seasonal value has fallen off a cliff, too, as he sports a .163/.221/.319 slash line over 172 plate appearances since the beginning of June. Though, he does have seven of his 11 home runs this season during the span. Hedges ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players Wednesday, but you should likely aim higher.

The New York Mets want to add another big bat at the trading deadline, and they have their sights set on San Diego Padres OF Justin Upton, Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez, Milwaukee Brewers OFs Carlos Gomez and Gerardo Parra and Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce. The Padres and Mets didn't agree on a prospect package for Upton, but the talks could be rekindled. Gonzalez's price tag would be high, as he is heating up this summer. The Reds are showing interest in SP Zack Wheeler in exchange for Bruce. Reds OF Marlon Byrd could be a fallback option for the Mets.
Fantasy Tip: The Mets surely could use a boost on the offensive side, and any of these bats would do just fine. A move to New York for any of these names is unlikely to drastically affect their fantasy value, although some of those names would be leaving fine hitting environments.

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) caught a full game Tuesday, July 28, for Class AA Binghamton for the first time during his minor-league rehab assignment. He was 1-for-4 with a run scored. He is scheduled to catch another full game for the B-Mets Wednesday, July 29.
Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has 15 at-bats under his belt during his rehab assignment. He could be back as soon as this weekend, but FantasyScore players will want to give him at least a full game to prove his health before trusting him again.

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard took a perfect game into the seventh inning Tuesday, July 28, against the San Diego Padres, and he ended up throwing eight scoreless innings in the win. He allowed three hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.
Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is 0-4 with a 4.34 ERA in seven road outings with the opposition hitting .268 against him. However, he is 5-1 with a 1.46 ERA in seven home starts with 51 strikeouts over 49 1/3 innings at home. FantasyScore players will be pleased to see he is home again Sunday against Washington, so take advantage.
