Mets | Bobby Parnell throwing well

Fri, 29 May 2015 15:53:37 -0700

New York Mets RP Bobby Parnell (elbow) was throwing 94 to 95 mph in his last rehab outing with Class AA Binghamton, according to manager Terry Collins. Parnell still has not pitched in back-to-back games, so he is not ready to be activated from the 15-day disabled list yet.

Fantasy Tip: Parnell is working his way back from his elbow injury, but it is not known what his role will be once he is activated from the disabled list. Jeurys Familia has done well as the team's closer, so Parnell could be used in earlier innings. Owners could hold on to Parnell, but his value would take a hit if he is not the closer.

Mets | Dillon Gee expected back Tuesday

Fri, 29 May 2015 15:00:32 -0700

New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (groin) is expected to return from the disabled list Tuesday, June 2, according to general manager Sandy Alderson.

Fantasy Tip: Gee ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is a mediocre starter, which translates to a low-end option in the majority of fantasy formats. In most mixed leagues, he should be viewed as nothing more than a streaming option. He currently boasts a 3.86 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 5.9 K/9 for the season. FantasyScore players would be wise to take a wait-and-see approach with Gee.

Mets | David Wright receives more treatment

Fri, 29 May 2015 14:56:40 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) received epidural injections Monday, May 25, and he will remain in Los Angeles into next week.

Fantasy Tip: The news continues to go from bad to worse for Wright, and unless your stashing him in an injured reserve slot, you likely should look to replace him. There is no telling how he'll perform when he returns, or even when he'll return. Continue to check back for updates.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud dealing with wrist injury

Fri, 29 May 2015 14:52:22 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger, wrist) is dealing with a bone bruise in his wrist, which is delaying his return.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known when d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) will be able to return, but it appears he probably will not be back in a few days. Kevin Plawecki ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) probably will receive a majority of the starts at catcher but is not a great option on FantasyScore.

Mets | Juan Lagares moved down the order

Fri, 29 May 2015 12:39:27 -0700

New York Mets OF Juan Lagares is batting seventh and playing center field against the Miami Marlins Friday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Over his last 17 games, Lagares is sporting a .437 OPS and riding an 11-for-66 run. Dropping down the lineup doesn't help his fantasy value, either. At best, Lagares is a flier source of cap relief Friday, but FantasyScore players should be able to hone in on a player in his price range in better form.

Mets | Ruben Tejada batting second

Fri, 29 May 2015 12:35:58 -0700

New York Mets SS Ruben Tejada is batting second and playing third base against the Miami Marlins Friday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Tejada ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) carries an uninspiring .200/.308/.333 slash line over 52 plate appearances this season with just six runs and four RBI. He should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation flier in FantasyScore contests Friday.

Mets | Dillon Gee makes final rehab start

Wed, 27 May 2015 19:19:03 -0700

New York Mets SP Dillon Gee was charged with three runs (two earned) in six and one-third innings Wednesday, May 27, in his final rehab start. Gee allowed five hits and two walks, but he recorded four strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Gee ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) will be the sixth member of the Mets' rotation upon his return to the major leagues. Gee's low strikeout rate makes him a rather unappealing option on FantasyScore.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud makes rehab appearance

Wed, 27 May 2015 17:32:37 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) caught seven innings Wednesday, May 27, in a rehab appearance for Class A St. Lucie. d'Arnaud went 0-for-3 at the plate with three groundouts.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is expected to rejoin the Mets' lineup late next week, and they sorely need his offense. The fact that d'Arnaud was able to catch seven innings is more impressive and more meaningful than the 0-for-3 day at the plate. d'Arnaud should be picked up in standard, mixed leagues.

Mets | Lucas Duda goes deep twice

Wed, 27 May 2015 17:14:11 -0700

New York Mets 1B Lucas Duda went 3-for-4 with two home runs and two RBI against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Duda ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has recorded at least one hit in 11 of his last 13 games and has three home runs in his last three games. Owners on FantasyScore can consider using Duda in their lineup against certain matchups.

Mets | Noah Syndergaard has solid outing

Wed, 27 May 2015 17:10:33 -0700

New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, May 27. He allowed six hits during the game while striking out six batters. Syndergaard also hit his first career home run during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has pitched well in all four of his starts since being recalled from the minor leagues. Syndergaard is scheduled to face the San Diego Padres in his next start and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Mets | NY going to six-man rotation

Wed, 27 May 2015 12:15:04 -0700

The New York Mets will use a six-man pitching rotation throughout early to mid-August once SP Dillon Gee is added to the rotation. Gee will join SPs Jacob deGrom, Bartolo Colon, Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard and Jon Niese. The idea is to shave about 30 innings per pitcher and prevent so many arms from going over 200 innings in one season.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't a surprise. With such young arms as Gee ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), Harvey ($9,100, 18.2% of cap), deGrom ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) and Syndergaard ($6,000, 12.0% of cap), the Mets are interested in preserving the health of pitchers. No pitcher will likely get two starts in a week, which could hurt in yearly leagues, but you will still get one start a week in FantasyScore.

Phillies | Carlos Ruiz sitting vs. Mets

Wed, 27 May 2015 07:27:52 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz is not in the starting lineup against the New York Mets Wednesday, May 27. C Cameron Rupp is starting behind the plate and batting eighth Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ruiz ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. The 36-year-old backstop is struggling mightily this season with just eight runs, eight RBI and a .252 batting average. At best, he is a fringe fantasy asset in NL-only and two-catcher formats. Rupp ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is even worse, as he has a single run and RBI over 52 plate appearances and a .196/.269/.283 slash line. FantasyScore players will want to aim higher Wednesday.

Mets | Danny Muno starting at the hot corner

Wed, 27 May 2015 07:22:58 -0700

New York Mets 2B Danny Muno is starting at third base and batting seventh against the Philadelphia Phillies Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Muno ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) only has one hit over 11 at-bats to start his career, and he only posted a .280/.354/.400 slash line through 30 games with Class AAA Las Vegas before being recalled to the Mets. FantasyScore players should aim higher, as Muno is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief.

Mets | Dillon Gee to make rehab start

Tue, 26 May 2015 21:59:35 -0700

New York Mets SP Dillon Gee (groin) is scheduled to make a rehab start for Class AA Binghamton Wednesday, May 27. He is expected to rejoin the Mets after the start and be a part of the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Gee ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is expected to be part of a six-man rotation when he returns to the Mets. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see him pitch in a game or two before consider him for their starting lineups.

Mets | Jacob deGrom strikes out nine

Tue, 26 May 2015 21:51:32 -0700

New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom allowed two runs on six hits in 7 1/3 innings against the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday, May 26. He also struck out nine batters during the game.

Fantasy Tip: deGrom ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) has pitched very well throughout the season and has allowed two or fewer runs in seven of his 10 starts. deGrom is scheduled to face the San Diego Padres in his next start and could be a good option on FantasyScore.
