Tampa Bay Rays 1B James Loney had a two-run single in an 8-1 win over the New York Yankees Sunday, July 5, and he is hitting .340 against the Yankees for his career and .402 in 112 at-bats at new Yankee Stadium.
Fantasy Tip: Loney ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is a generally an unattractive option at FantasyScore, but his sustained success against New York makes him worth a look as a source of cap relief whenever he takes on the Yankees.

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Saturday, July 4. Manager Joe Girardi said he will be re-evaluated Sunday, July 5, before the next course of action is taken.
Fantasy Tip: Miller is hopeful that he can begin a minor league rehab assignment without having to throw another bullpen session. He is expected to be activated from the disabled list soon, since rehab assignments for relievers are typically brief. Dellin Betances is serving as the Yankees' closer in his absence and he should continue to possess fantasy value even after Miller comes back.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has played in the last several games and likely is receiving a day off. Flores was recently called up by the team and should not be a fantasy option at this point.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the near future. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting .250 in limited playing this season, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is up to 52 RBI on the year, but his production tends to come in spurts. He is a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Sabathia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has been struggling this season with a 5.59 ERA in 16 starts. He has allowed at least one home run in seven of his last eight starts with nine home runs in his last six games. Owners on FantasyScore may want to avoid Sabathia until he is able to put some solid outings together.

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran (oblique) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle. The move is retroactive to Wednesday, July 1. In corresponding moves, the club also recalled OF Ramon Flores and IF Gregorio Petit from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and optioned OF Taylor Dugas to Class AAA.
Fantasy Tip: This move was widely expected for Beltran ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), who may need some time to recover from this injury. At the best, he'll be back just after the All-Star break, but age and the injury may conspire to keep him out longer.

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) will not return Friday, July 3, as originally hoped. Ellsbury did not play in a rehab game Thursday, July 2, marking the second time in four minor-league games that he did not play.
Fantasy Tip: The team obviously believes Ellsbury ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is not ready yet. Keep an eye out for when he is activated and maybe wait one or two games after that as he may be slow to recover.

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran (rib cage) remains day-to-day with a rib cage injury. If he'll only miss a few days, the Yankees will keep him on the active roster. If not, Beltran will go on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is in a holding pattern right now, so stay tuned. He's worth stashing in all formats if he goes on the DL. The Yanks are in luck, though, with Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) likely returning this weekend. If Beltran is forced to the DL, Chris Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will likely continue to see regular playing time. He's a nice value pick on FantasyScore when facing certain left-handed hurlers.

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) will play one more rehab game Thursday, July 2, before the Yankees decide if he's ready to come off the disabled list. "He feels ready to go," general manager Brian Cashman said. "If it were 100% up to him, then he would be in the lineup on Friday."
Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should immediately be returned to all traditional lineups when he's back. On FantasyScore, you may want to give him a game or two before trusting him back in your lineups. Chris Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is likely to go back to a fourth outfield role when Ellsbury returns, depending on the status of Carlos Beltran. Young can still be an effective value play against left-handed pitchers when he draws into the lineup, though.

Fantasy Tip: Shoemaker has a 1.72 HR/9 and 14.7 percent HR/FB rate, so the Yankees have a homer-friendly matchup Wednesday. Neither Headley ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) or Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) are lineup locks for FantasyScore players, but they're worth a look if the price fits, especially Headley in the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: The 25-year-old Dugas is hitting just .198-0-13 in 162 at-bats between Double-A and Triple-A. Garrett Jones could also see time in right, but his .229-4-13 line doesn't give much reason to add him on waivers. Stash Beltran if you have space.
Tue, 30 Jun 2015 22:55:16 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Teixeira ($5,000; or 10.0% of cap) has taken a bit of a step backward, but he remains a solid FantasyScore play especially at this price level.
Tue, 30 Jun 2015 22:54:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Early indications are Beltran ($3,900; or 7.8% of cap) will not need a stint on the 15-day disabled list, but that won't be official until he is evaluated tomorrow. Stay away from him until he officially plays and makes it through a full game without any setbacks.
Tue, 30 Jun 2015 18:53:31 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if this changes the original plan for Ellsbury to return from the 15-day disabled list Friday. FantasyScore players will want to see him officially return and prove his health in a game or two without any setbacks before trusting him again.
