New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) went 2-for-13 in four rehab games with Class A Tampa and is likely to be activated from the disabled list in time for the game Wednesday, July 8. He will resume his old duties as the team's leadoff hitter and center fielder.
Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should be activated immediately and returned to starting lineups. In daily games, you may want to give him a day or two before trusting him. Chris Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) and Garrett Jones ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) are likely to form a platoon in right field with Carlos Beltran (oblique) on the DL. Young and Jones are acceptable matchup plays on FantasyScore, with Young particularly attractive against left-handed pitchers.

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm), who threw a scoreless inning with Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Monday, July 6, is likely to be activated from the disabled list before the game Wednesday, July 8, according to manager Joe Girardi. Miller allowed two hits and struck out one in an inning of work Monday. Girardi said Miller will immediately resume his role as the team's closer, with RP Dellin Betances sliding back to the eighth-inning setup role.
Fantasy Tip: Get ready to activate Miller and immediately put him back in your lineups in traditional leagues. Betances should still be owned in all formats even without the save opportunities he was receiving with Miller out.

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi has a 2.08 ERA in four day starts this year and a 5.55 ERA in 12 night starts. He's given up just four combined earned runs in his last three starts (all wins) since June 16.
Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) could be a very nice low-priced second starter at FantasyScore tonight against the A's. Eovaldi has been on a roll and also has been much better at home (3.76 ERA) than on the road (5.17 ERA) this year.

Fantasy Tip: Miller is close to returning to the Yankees closing mix. Keep him stashed.

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm) will make a rehab appearance with Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Monday, July 6. It's unlikely he'll be activated from the disabled list any earlier than Wednesday, July 8, even if the Yankees decide he only needs one rehab outing. Miller has been out since June 10 with a strained left forearm.
Fantasy Tip: It's unclear if Miller will immediately return to the closer role when he's healthy. Dellin Betances continues to do a fine job in relief and while pitching in the ninth inning with Miller out. Both relievers should continue to be owned in all formats regardless of their role in the late innings.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury's return this week will be welcomed by all of his fantasy owners. Immediately return him to your starting lineups. Chris Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should continue to see regular at-bats in the outfield with Carlos Beltran now on the DL. Young is an effective value weapon on FantasyScore because of his success against left-handed pitching.

Tampa Bay Rays 1B James Loney had a two-run single in an 8-1 win over the New York Yankees Sunday, July 5, and he is hitting .340 against the Yankees for his career and .402 in 112 at-bats at new Yankee Stadium.
Fantasy Tip: Loney ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is a generally an unattractive option at FantasyScore, but his sustained success against New York makes him worth a look as a source of cap relief whenever he takes on the Yankees.

New York Yankees RP Andrew Miller (forearm) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Saturday, July 4. Manager Joe Girardi said he will be re-evaluated Sunday, July 5, before the next course of action is taken.
Fantasy Tip: Miller is hopeful that he can begin a minor league rehab assignment without having to throw another bullpen session. He is expected to be activated from the disabled list soon, since rehab assignments for relievers are typically brief. Dellin Betances is serving as the Yankees' closer in his absence and he should continue to possess fantasy value even after Miller comes back.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has played in the last several games and likely is receiving a day off. Flores was recently called up by the team and should not be a fantasy option at this point.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 08:50:12 -0700
Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the near future. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting .250 in limited playing this season, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.
Fri, 03 Jul 2015 21:39:05 -0700
Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is up to 52 RBI on the year, but his production tends to come in spurts. He is a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore.
Fri, 03 Jul 2015 13:16:10 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Sabathia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has been struggling this season with a 5.59 ERA in 16 starts. He has allowed at least one home run in seven of his last eight starts with nine home runs in his last six games. Owners on FantasyScore may want to avoid Sabathia until he is able to put some solid outings together.

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran (oblique) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle. The move is retroactive to Wednesday, July 1. In corresponding moves, the club also recalled OF Ramon Flores and IF Gregorio Petit from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and optioned OF Taylor Dugas to Class AAA.
Fantasy Tip: This move was widely expected for Beltran ($3,900, 7.8% of cap), who may need some time to recover from this injury. At the best, he'll be back just after the All-Star break, but age and the injury may conspire to keep him out longer.
Fri, 03 Jul 2015 12:21:23 -0700
New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) will not return Friday, July 3, as originally hoped. Ellsbury did not play in a rehab game Thursday, July 2, marking the second time in four minor-league games that he did not play.
Fantasy Tip: The team obviously believes Ellsbury ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is not ready yet. Keep an eye out for when he is activated and maybe wait one or two games after that as he may be slow to recover.
Thu, 02 Jul 2015 10:41:55 -0700
New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran (rib cage) remains day-to-day with a rib cage injury. If he'll only miss a few days, the Yankees will keep him on the active roster. If not, Beltran will go on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is in a holding pattern right now, so stay tuned. He's worth stashing in all formats if he goes on the DL. The Yanks are in luck, though, with Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) likely returning this weekend. If Beltran is forced to the DL, Chris Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will likely continue to see regular playing time. He's a nice value pick on FantasyScore when facing certain left-handed hurlers.
