Fantasy Tip: Judge appears to be the closest and could be called up at some point in 2016. All are only dynasty league options right now.

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is believed to be fully healthy after dealing with several injuries that slowed him down last year. The Yankees are expecting a bounce-back season from him in 2016, and they continue to believe he's one of their most talented players.
Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury's power took a drop (seven long balls), but it may have been a direct result of his ailments. He has a history of solid production when healthy, though, so he could be undervalued in your drafts and come at a nice value.

Fantasy Tip: Ackley is pegged as a super utility player for the Yanks in 2016, but with injury and age concerns on this roster, he could see notable playing time eventually. He's a late-round flier in AL-only leagues.

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees 1B Greg Bird (shoulder) is unlikely to work his way back into action for the end of the 2016 season, but it's not entirely impossible, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Bird shouldn't be drafted anywhere in 2016 aside from deeper keeper leagues. The Yanks will use some combination of Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez and Dustin Ackley at first base with Bird done for the year.

Fantasy Tip: Bird, one of the Yankees top prospects, had 11 home runs in just 46 games for New York last year. He most certainly would have had a big role in 2016 given injury concerns for both Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez. Bird will remain a notable prospect for dynasty and keeper leaguers given his excellent power profile, but you can't count on him until 2017 and beyond.

Fantasy Tip: Nova's return from Tommy John surgery last year didn't go over very well, as he went 6-11 with a 5.07 ERA in 17 starts and struck out only 6.03 hitters per nine innings. He's never been a big strikeout artist, but he should be able to improve there another year removed from the surgery, and his ability to live on the ground makes him a sleeper candidate. Nova is late-round flier material in deep mixed formats.

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro is likely to hit lower in the order since the Yankees have OFs Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury to set the table at the top. "I think you wait and see how things kind of pan out the rest of the offseason before you start thinking about where you're going to hit people, but I think (Castro) gives you a lot of flexibility," manager Joe Girardi said. Castro hit .345/.368/.574 with six home runs and 25 RBI in 50 games after Aug. 4 last year after shifting to second base full time. Most of Castro's starts last year with Chicago came as either the No. 5 hitter (49) or No. 6 hitter (38).
Fantasy Tip: Castro still has some pop and should benefit from everyday playing time and a role at the bottom of the order. There's talk he could play some third base, too, which might give him infield eligibility at three positions. That'd make him even more attractive in the later rounds as a bounceback candidate.

Fantasy Tip: This doesn't make him exempt from a potential suspension, but it is favorable. Chapman is a top-three reliever if he escapes a lengthy ban.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi is a tough pitcher to figure out. On one side of the equation, he's one of the hardest-throwing pitchers in the league, and he's coming off a year that saw him win a career-high 14 games. On the other end of it, he finished with a 4.20 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, as opposing lineups hit .285 off the right-hander. All in all, he's not a bad late-round target.

Fantasy Tip: Gregorius' .265-9-56 season wasn't bad considering he switched leagues. He's a midrange SS option in fantasy with a little upside.

Fantasy Tip: Nova struggled in 2015, going 6-11 with a 5.07 ERA in 17 starts after returning from Tommy John surgery while posting a K/9 of just 6.0. The 29-year-old right-hander should be viewed as nothing more than a late-round flier in AL-only and deep mixed leagues.
Sat, 16 Jan 2016 12:25:03 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Gregorius hit .265 with nine home runs and 56 RBIs in 155 regular-season games in 2015, although he fared much better at the plate on the road. He hit just .225 with six homers in 267 at-bats at Yankee Stadium but .306 with three homers in 258 at-bats away from home. Gregorius should be selected in the middle rounds of AL-only leagues and the later rounds of cavernous mixed leagues as middle infield depth.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi went 14-3 with a 4.20 ERA in 27 starts for the Yanks last season and led American League starting pitchers in winning percentage. He should be viewed as a middle-of-the-rotation arm in AL-only leagues and a back-of-the-rotation option in mixed formats.
Sat, 16 Jan 2016 11:38:53 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Chapman is one of the top closers in the game, although he is likely to face a suspension at the beginning of the season for domestic abuse allegations. Andrew Miller, who served as the Yankees' ninth-inning man last year, would probably step into the closer's role if Chapman misses time and he is worth owning in all fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: Pineda struggled down the stretch last season with a 4.93 ERA through seven starts in September, which led to a 4.37 mark for the season. However, Pineda's .332 BABIP, 3.34 FIP, 8.7 K/9 and 1.2 BB/9 suggest there may have been some tough luck along the way. View him as end-of-the-rotation fantasy arm to target in the late middle rounds of drafts this spring.
