Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has turned up the power in the month of August, swatting two homers with five RBIs in three games. He has been streaky this season, and right now he is running hot. Keep rolling with him in FantasyScore until the next cool streak comes around.

Fantasy Tip: Since the start of July, Tanaka has lasted at least six innings in each of his six starts. He has also struck out at least five in 11 of the past 13 starts to make him a solid FantasyScore option. He is 2-0 with a 4.91 ERA in two outings against the Red Sox this season.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is 8-for-20 (.400) with 10 runs scored, and eight RBIs over his past six games to raise his average from .257 to .268 just since July 27. He is a solid short-term FantasyScore option as long as he is running hot.

Fantasy Tip: Severino ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) should already be owned in all keeper and dynasty leagues, and he should also be immediately added in AL-only leagues if he's still available. The right-hander had a 1.91 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 50 strikeouts in 61 1/3 innings over 11 starts at Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He could be valuable in mixed leagues, too. On FantasyScore in his major league debut tomorrow, he carries plenty or risk but has considerable upside, especially for the price.

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (forearm) will be out until at least September with his right forearm strain, according to general manager Brian Cashman. Pineda is 9-7 with a 3.97 ERA on the season and went on the disabled list last week. It's unlikely that the Yankees will stretch out P Adam Warren for the rotation, according to manager Joe Girardi. Warren has been a reliever for more than a month, so Girardi thinks Warren can only throw around 50 pitches in a game.
Fantasy Tip: Pineda ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) should be retained in all formats, as he can still contribute to a fantasy pitching staff for the final month of the season. Luis Severino, the team's top pitching prospect, is entering the rotation in Pineda's start and will make his debut tomorrow against the Boston Red Sox. There's a lot to like about Severino, but using him immediately on FantasyScore would be a bold move.

Fantasy Tip: This is a good time as ever to use Headley ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) as a value play on FantasyScore. He's facing Boston Red Sox rookie Henry Owens making his major league debut tonight, which makes him even more attractive.
Tue, 04 Aug 2015 12:56:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gardner ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) carries a .263 average and two home runs against left-handed pitching, and the Red Sox have Henry Owens on the hill on Tuesday. Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a solid cheaper play thanks to his .363-7-19 line against the left.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 06:35:41 -0700
New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova (arm) showed no signs of arm fatigue Sunday, Aug. 2, against the Chicago White Sox. He allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. Nova said everything was working fine after throwing 90 pitches.
Fantasy Tip: This is good news to see after he left his previous start with arm fatigue. Still, Nova ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is more of a matchup play than a set-and-forget starter in fantasy.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 18:58:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Drew ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has had several big games this year, but he is hitting just .199 and will go several games at a time without any production. He is a high-risk, high-reward value play at FantasyScore.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 18:53:15 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gregorius ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is normally known for his glove, but feel free to take advantage of his hot bat if you are looking for some cap relief at FantasyScore.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 10:22:12 -0700
Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) was out of the starting lineup for two games because the team faced left-handed starting pitchers on consecutive days. He is just 1-for-9 against Samardzija in his career and is not a great option in FantasyScore this afternoon.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 10:20:03 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is a lifetime .357 hitter (5-for-14) against Samardzija, with a double, home run and two RBIs, making this a favorable FantasyScore matchup for him.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 10:16:58 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Even though his batting average remains below the Mendoza Line, Drew ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting .267 with a home run and three RBIs in 30 at-bats since the All-Star break. That being said, he is hitting 64 points worse against right-handed pitching (.175) than against lefties (.239), so he should be avoided in FantasyScore this afternoon.

New York Yankees SS Brendan Ryan will start at second base and hit eighth in the order Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Chicago White Sox and LHP John Danks. 2B Stephen Drew is out of the lineup once again.
Fantasy Tip: Ryan ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is 6-for-16 over his past three starts, and he has both scored and driven in four runs in that time. FantasyScore owners should be taking note and using Ryan as a tremendous source of cap relief.

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is out of the starting lineup Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Chicago White Sox and LHP John Danks. C J.R. Murphy will start behind the plate and hit seventh in the order.
Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting a modest .250 against left-handed pitching this season, but he'll offer cap relief for FantasyScore owners willing to punt the catcher position.
