New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day Tuesday, May 31, and manager Joe Girardi wouldn't guarantee that Rodriguez would return for the game Wednesday, June 1.
Fantasy Tip: A-Rod is down to .170/.240/.409 with six home runs and 14 RBI on the season and has only one hit (a homer) in 16 at-bats with nine strikeouts since coming off the DL. Avoid him for now in all fantasy formats, but he should still be owned in deep mixed and AL-only leagues after he slugged 33 long balls a season ago.

Fantasy Tip: That'll likely put an end to Ackley's 2016 season, as he's dealing with a torn labrum in his shoulder. His absence is good news for Rob Refsnyder, who can serve in a utility role for the Yanks in the infield or outfield. His power-speed combination will play in AL-only leagues for now.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner is out due to the traditional lefty vs. lefty matchup, so bench him accordingly for the evening. Hicks carries no fantasy value due to his weak bat (.133 average in the past week).

New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova allowed four runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out four over six innings in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Monday, May 30, and he said he has been having trouble keeping his sinker down in the zone. After allowing 17 fly balls in his first three starts, he has allowed 21 in his last two, both losses.
Fantasy Tip: Both of Nova's bad outings have come against Toronto, so the opponent could have something to do with it. His value is limited to AL-only leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Ackley was placed on the 15-day disabled listed earlier in the day. When healthy he is only worth using in the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues and in DFS as a salary saver, and even that is a stretch given his dismal slash line to date.
Mon, 30 May 2016 14:27:56 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ackley didn't play enough to warrant ownership outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, and he is only worth stashing in those formats if you were counting on him as a starter. Through 70 plate appearances, Ackley has a disastrous .148/.243/.148 slash line.
Mon, 30 May 2016 14:11:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The 22-year-old Severino posted an 0-6 record with a 7.46 ERA through seven starts before the triceps injury, and he is only worth stashing in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats at this point. Everywhere else, you'll want to take a wait-and-see approach with the promising youngster.

Fantasy Tip: Travis is 6-for-22 with three runs and three RBI since returning from the disabled list and should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues, if not all. He has missed substantial time, though, so expect the odd game off in the near future. Ryan Goins has a .151/.198/.244 slash line in close to full-time work this season, so he cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez has gone 1-for-16 since returning from injury with nine strikeouts. His .170/.240/.409 slash line for the season highlights his struggles at the plate, and the veteran isn't moving the needle enough to warrant fantasy attention outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Just note, a bounce-back run isn't out of the question.
Mon, 30 May 2016 13:05:21 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Beltran sat out Sunday, May 29, but you can slot him back into your lineups with confidence Monday. The veteran has a solid 26 runs, 12 home runs, 31 RBI and a .263/.290/.537 slash line, and hitting in the heart of the lineup will help him maintain the production.
Mon, 30 May 2016 12:55:16 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Teixeira pinch hit Sunday, May 29, and will be making his first start since Tuesday, May 24. With just three home runs, 12 RBI and a .193/.292/.280 slash line through 171 plate appearances this season, Teixeira is nothing more than a desperation start in the majority of fantasy formats until he turns around at the dish.
Mon, 30 May 2016 08:08:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Refsnyder was hitting .294 with two home runs and 10 RBI at Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and has a decent power-speed combination and can hit for average. It's unclear how much playing time he'll get in New York, but he's at least worth a look as a cheap flier in AL-only leagues for now.
Mon, 30 May 2016 05:27:53 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Beltran said he is not worried about his injury and should return to the lineup soon if he is ruled out for Monday. Teixeira entered the game late Sunday, May 29, and should have a good chance to play Monday. Beltran has posted solid numbers this season and should be a starting candidate in all leagues if he plays. Teixeira has struggled at the plate and may not be the best option for owners.

New York Yankees INF Dustin Ackley (shoulder) was removed from the game Sunday, May 29, against the Tampa Bay Rays after suffering a shoulder injury when he dove back into first base while attempting to retrieve a pickoff throw. Manager Joe Girardi told reporters after the game Ackley will undergo an MRI and that it is a "distinct possibility" that Ackley will be placed on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: New York's first base situation is arguably the worst in baseball right now and one to avoid in fantasy. Regular starter Mark Teixeira, who replaced Ackley following the injury, is batting .193 and coming off a neck injury and Ackley is hitting 148 following today's effort. Prospect Greg Bird is already out for the season as well. The Yankees desperately need to look at other alternatives if they wish to remain in the playoff conversation this fall.
Sun, 29 May 2016 13:15:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Castro's blast to center was the only hit the Yankees could muster all day long off Jake Odorizzi and two Tampa Bay relievers, but Nathan Eovaldi and New York's vaunted bullpen made it stand up. The 26-year-old Dominican is batting .211 this month and only had one hit in his previous 23 at-bat before delivering his seventh-inning shot. Castro batted .305 in May and hits in the heart of the order of a good offense, so owners should keep him in their lineups and ride out his slump until further notice.
