Fantasy Tip: These slumps may or may not last into next season, but for now it is something to keep an eye on if you are doing a postseason fantasy league or contest.

New York Yankees C J.R. Murphy could catch the wild-card game against Houston Astros left-handed SP Dallas Keuchel Tuesday, Oct. 6, over C Brian McCann. The Yankees have included C Gary Sanchez on their playoff roster, which would give the Yankees more flexibility to put McCann in the game when the Astros go to their bullpen.
Fantasy Tip: Either way you slice it, McCann ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) isn't a good option for FantasyScore owners. Even if he starts, McCann had just six of his 26 home runs against left-handers and is in a matchup to avoid. It's best to go cheap on catcher for the wild-card games.

Fantasy Tip: Tanaka ($8,800, 17.6% of cap) faced the Astros just once this season, allowing six runs and seven hits, tying a season-worst for homers allowed, in a no-decision in five innings in Houston June 27. Tanaka's ERA has improved in each month since June, and the Astros have won just 18 of their past 59 on the road.

Fantasy Tip: Sabathia finished the season strong, but his overall body of work along with his injury concerns were already making him a shaky pitcher for fantasy owners in 2016. Adding his problems with alcohol on top of it and he's probably one to avoid, at least in shallow mixed formats.

Fantasy Tip: This is a big blow to the Yankees for a potential playoff run. Sabathia had a 4.68 ERA during the regular season but had been pitching well over the last month. He's expected to be ready to pitch for New York next year, but along with Sabathia's declining skills and health concerns, this is yet another reason to be skeptical about drafting him at all in shallow mixed leagues in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Ackley ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is hitting .231 over the last seven days but two of his three hits have been home runs. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find a better option to use.

Fantasy Tip: Ackley ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is 7-for-14 (.500) lifetime off Ubaldo Jimenez and has a couple homers this week. He's a low-end flyer worth consideration on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has a .391-3-6 line in 23 career at-bats against Ubaldo Jimenez. He's a midrange option on FantasyScore.

New York Yankees 1B Greg Bird and SS Didi Gregorius are not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, Oct. 3. C Austin Romine will start at first base against SP Wei-Yin Chen and is batting eighth in the lineup, while SS Brendan Ryan will start at shortstop and is batting ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Bird ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) and Gregorius ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) likely are sitting out because the team if facing a left-handed pitcher. Ryan ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Romine ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) have not done much at the plate this season and are not great option for fantasy owners.

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, Oct. 3. 2B Jose Pirela will start in right field against SP Wei-Yin Chen and is batting seventh in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) likely is receiving a game off and should play in Game 2. Pirela ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is hitting only .229 in limited playing time this season and could be avoided by owners.

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, Oct. 3. C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher against SP Wei-Yin Chen and is batting sixth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) should return to the lineup for the second game of the doubleheader. Murphy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting .333 over the last seven days but may not be a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the starting lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, Oct. 3. OF Chris Young will start in left field against SP Wei-Yin Chen and is batting fourth in the lineup, while OF Brett Gardner will start in center field.
Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) likely is out of the lineup because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Young ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has five hits and one RBI over his last five games and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday, Oct. 2, and is expected to throw a second session Monday, Oct. 5. According to manager Joe Girardi, he would need to face live hitters in a simulated game or at the team's minor league complex before he could be added to a playoff roster.
Fantasy Tip: In a best-case scenario, Eovaldi could be added to the Yankees' American League Division Series roster if the team wins their wild-card game, where he would be used in single-inning appearances out of the bullpen. FantasyScore owners can ignore him as long as he is not being used in a starting role.

Updating previous reports, New York Yankees 2B Stephen Drew (concussion) has been diagnosed with a vestibular concussion and is unlikely to see any playing time during the postseason. The injury has caused him dizziness and loss of equilibrium for nearly one month.
Fantasy Tip: Drew ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) hit .201 with 17 home runs and 44 RBIs in 383 at-bats this season and can be dropped in all fantasy formats. Dustin Ackley ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) and Rob Refsnyder ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) have been platooning at the keystone position in Drew's absence, with Ackley facing most righties and Refsnyder facing most lefties.
