Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is still a ways away from returning, but this is all good news so far. Monitor Crisp's progress and wait for a bit to start him after he returns.

Fantasy Tip: Chavez ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should be watched over his first couple of starts before you see whether or not to start him.

Fantasy Tip: Graveman ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) was roughed up in his last start and showed signs of needing more seasoning. Take him off your list of starters to consider until he returns.

Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman surrendered six runs on nine hits Saturday, April 25, in a 9-3 loss to the Houston Astros. It was the third time in four starts this season that Graveman failed to complete five innings. The 24-year-old rookie was shaken up by the loss in postgame interviews, "That game's on me," Graveman said.
Fantasy Tip: Graveman ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has a disappointing 8.27 ERA through four starts and just 16.1 innings pitched. Although a 5.86 xFIP shows some signs of a turn around, Graveman is walking more batters than he is striking out. Graveman's next scheduled start is for May 1, against the Texas Rangers, but FantasyScore owners should be staying away until they see some more promising outings.

Fantasy Tip: Reddick ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has raised his average from his .200 to .357 over the last seven games, and while he generally sits against left-handed pitching, he is a solid value pick at FantasyScore against righties right now.

Oakland Athletics 3B Brett Lawrie (knee) is getting the day off against the Houston Astros Saturday, April 25. Manager Bob Melvin said he was "banged up" after jamming his knee into the team's bullpen mound while making a catch in foul territory Friday, April 24.
Fantasy Tip: INF Max Muncy will make his major league debut at third base Saturday, batting seventh. He was promoted when the A's placed 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) on the 15-day disabled list. It is unknown when Lawrie will be able to return to the starting lineup.

Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) is expected to undergo surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee, although no date has been set for the procedure. He is expected to need four to six weeks of recovery time.
Fantasy Tip: Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will probably get the bulk of the playing time at second base in Zobrist's absence but he won't be able to duplicate his power or run-producing numbers. C Stephen Vogt ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is expected to be the regular No. 3 hitter in the lineup while Zobrist is out.

Fantasy Tip: Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should receive most of the starts at second base while Zobrist is out of the lineup. Sogard could be an option for owners on FantasyScore, but he will not give owners much in terms of power or RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp is still probably a few weeks away from returning to the lineup, so owners should monitor his recovery. Craig Gentry ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Sam Fuld ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should continue to see playing time with Crisp out and could be options on FantasyScore against certain matchups.

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) threw 15 pitches Friday, April 24, and said he felt great while working on new grips with his changeup and slider. He will throw on flat ground again Saturday, April 25, and again Sunday, April 26, throwing 20-25 pitches. Doolittle could move to a mound after that.
Fantasy Tip: Doolittle is expected to have a chance to regain the closer's role in Oakland when he returns to active duty, but Tyler Clippard, who has just one save so far in one chance, might have something to say about it. Both relievers are worth hanging onto in deep mixed and AL-only leagues once Doolittle is healthy.

Fantasy Tip: This is another handedness platoon you can expect going forward from Oakland. Make sure to remove Reddick ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) from your fantasy lineups Friday. Ross ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has struggled mightily to start the season, and he is nothing more than a desperation flier in FantasyScore contests until he starts to produce at the dish.
Fri, 24 Apr 2015 14:04:24 -0700
Fantasy Tip: This could be a consistent platoon based on handedness, as Vogt ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is a left-handed batter and Phegley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is a righty. Although, it is interesting to see Vogt sitting because he is hitting .450 with three home runs over his past six games. Phegley has gone 5-for-10 against southpaws this season, but opposing pitcher Dallas Keuchel has been next to unhittable through his first three starts. Phegley is nothing more than a flier for daily contests Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Since Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has missed the past four games, he is likely best avoided in FantasyScore contests Friday. Opposing lefty Dallas Keuchel has been fantastic, too. Let Zobrist prove his health before utilizing him in daily contests.

Fantasy Tip: Parker will probably need two or three more rehab starts before returning. Parker was a bright prospect before Tommy John surgery halted his progression. He'll be a matchup play on FantasyScore in a month or two.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp is likely still four to six weeks away from returning, so while it is encouraging he is making strides, don't expect fantasy contributions anytime soon. Sam Fuld ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) and Craig Gentry ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) will continue to have fleeting seasonal value in Crisp's absence, and in favorable matchups, Fuld and Gentry warrant FantasyScore attention.
