Fantasy Tip: Activated from the DL earlier in the day, Manaea shut down the Giants en route to his third win of the season. There's a lot of upside with the 24-year-old southpaw, so this has to be considered encouraging. Pick him up in AL-only leagues and hope this is a sign of things to come.

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns will bat ninth and play center field versus the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, June 29, after OF Khris Davis (shoulder) was scratched from the lineup due to a left shoulder contusion. OF Coco Crisp, who was in the original lineup as the center fielder, will move to left field.
Fantasy Tip: Burns is batting just .171 with five RBI in 70 at-bats this month and is not a recommended fantasy option this evening.

Fantasy Tip: Davis had been playing well recently, batting .385 with three home runs and eight RBI over the past seven days. Remove him from your fantasy lineups tonight and check back occasionally for updates on his status going forward.

Fantasy Tip: Doolittle has four saves on the year and a sub-3.00 ERA. He has value in deeper leagues as the main handcuff to Ryan Madson. With Madson throwing two innings last night and Doolittle possibly unavailable, too, John Axford could be in line for a save chance this evening.

Fantasy Tip: Madson tossed two innings but allowed four hits (two home runs) and three earned runs for his 15th save of the year Tuesday night. He doesn't have any specific injury but will likely be rested after his first multi-inning outing this year. Sean Doolittle could be called upon for a save with Madson being rested.

Fantasy Tip: Manaea is a promising young lefty for the A's, but he's been up and down in his rookie season, going 2-4 with a 6.02 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 7.3 K/9. He can be useful in the right matchups, but he's probably far too risky for most to rely on in his first start off the DL tonight against the Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Smolinski actually is a decent hitter, but at .305-4-15 in 28 games he just doesn't play often enough to warrant a spot in a regular lineup. In many ways, he's a victim of Oakland's desire to play everyone on its roster rather than leave someone benched with hurt feelings. Smolinski could earn an occasional start, and if he does then he may be worthy in DFS formats.

Fantasy Tip: The A's have been cautious with the 36-year-old lefty, but they'd like to see him make some successful starts before the trade deadline, as he's a popular trade target. Hill has been great with an 8-3 record, 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings. Tread carefully using him immediately off the DL against the Bucs, though, and consider high a risk-reward starter this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Go ahead and return Reddick immediately to starting lineups in season formats. He was slashing an impressive .322/.394/.466 with five home runs and 18 RBI before his injury and also stole four bases. Reddick gives you a little of everything and should be owned everywhere.

Fantasy Tip: Reddick returned a .322/.394/.466 slash line with 21 runs, five home runs, 18 RBI and four stolen bases through 41 games before the thumb injury, so don't underestimate him as a viable starter in all fantasy leagues. Check your waiver wires. Muncy should be replaced in all leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia has hit safely in six of the past seven. He also has multi-hit games in 10 of the past 25 games to raise his average from .296 to .335 since May 27. He has emerged as a must-start fantasy option in all AL-only leagues, some deeper mixed formats and DFS play.

Fantasy Tip: Davis is making the most of his first season in the American League, posting 52 RBIs and it isn't even the All-Star break yet. He is just 17 RBIs short of his career high set in 2014 with Milwaukee. His average has never been that great, and he strikes out a lot, those power numbers are awfully helpful in all fantasy formats.
Mon, 27 Jun 2016 22:58:39 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Semien is up to 15 homers with 39 RBIs, as his career season continues. While his .248 batting average makes him slightly less attractive in rotisserie formats, he is a must-start across the board due to his expected power outburst.

Oakland Athletics SP Daniel Mengden allowed two earned runs, four hits and three walks over 7 2/3 innings in a win Monday, June 27, against the San Francisco Giants. He also struck out five batters in the 104-pitch quality start for his first major league victory.
Fantasy Tip: Mengden wasn't supposed to arrive in the majors this season, but he lowered his ERA to 2.81 and might be here to stay. He has emerged as a solid AL-only fantasy option and a nice mid-tier starter in DFS.

The Oakland Athletics are drawing trade interest in RP Sean Doolittle, according to sources. The demand is expected to rise even higher if the New York Yankees do not deal RP Aroldis Chapman and/or Andrew Miller.
Fantasy Tip: Doolittle has a bright future, but he is best used in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues for help in the ERA and WHIP categories. A move to a contender would likely mean a setup role and not a return to ninth-inning duties.
