Fantasy Tip: Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is likely receiving a day off and should be in the starting lineup in a game or two. Mercer ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting only .154 this month and should not be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Mercer ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting only .140 this month and appears to have lost his starting job. Owners on FantasyScore should look for better option to use at shortstop on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: The Pirates are facing a left-handed starter, so Alvarez ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is receiving the day off. Rodriguez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) only has one hit in his last eight games and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) likely is sitting out since the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Tabata has picked up two hits in his three at-bats since joining the team but may need more plate appearances to be trusted as a starting fantasy option.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has struggled as a right-handed hitter, so he is receiving the day off. Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has been on a hot streak and should be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP A.J. Burnett improved to 4-1 on the year, allowing one run on five hits and striking out 10 in seven innings against the New York Mets Saturday, May 23, lowering his ERA to a major league-leading 1.37.
Fantasy Tip: Burnett ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) has yet to allow more than two runs in any start this year, and he has 53 strikeouts in 59.0 innings. History says he has to slow down eventually, but Burnett is a great option at FantasyScore in the meantime. In seasonal leagues, he could be worth shopping as a sell-high candidate.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has raised his average from .173 to .261 during the streak, driving in seven runs and scoring nine. His price tag at FantasyScore won't break the bank, and you may want to jump on the Harrison bandwagon while he is swinging a hot bat.
Sat, 23 May 2015 06:39:11 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cole ($8,700, 17.4% of cap) is pitching his way into the elite tier of starters, as he currently sits with a 2.05 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 9.9 K/9. His 2.27 FIP doesn't suggest there is correction looming, either. There may be cause for a brief pause against a high-end offense, but at this point, it appears Cole can be started regardless of his opposition.

Fantasy Tip: With his move to the bullpen, Worley ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) can be written off at FantasyScore for the time being.
Fri, 22 May 2015 13:31:12 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Morton ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a viable add in all deep mixed and NL-only leagues. FantasyScore players will want to take a wait-and-see approach with him, though. Morton stands to become a nice matchup play once he settles back in and finds a groove, especially when tossing at pitcher-friendly PNC Park.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Cervelli ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) in all formats Friday. While his counting stats are lacking, Cervelli is sporting a .286 batting average and .348 on-base percentage and holds low-end value in cavernous mixed, NL-only and two-catcher leagues. Stewart ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) sports a .238/.250/.286 slash line this season, and FantasyScore players should view him as a desperation source of cap relief.
Fri, 22 May 2015 12:34:28 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) had a nice surge setting the table of the Pirates, but he has a measly .412 OPS dating back to Tuesday, May 5, so a demotion in the lineup shouldn't be surprising. At his cap hit, he is a risky FantasyScore play, and especially against capable hurler Noah Syndergaard.
Fri, 22 May 2015 11:08:20 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is starting to see regular playing time over Jordy Mercer lately, and he's taken advantage, going 18-for-54 (.333) with two home runs and four RBI in May. He should now be owned in all deep mixed and NL-only leagues. Against rookie sensation Noah Syndergaard Friday night, though, Kang could struggle to return value at FantasyScore.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton (hip) allowed two runs and four walks while striking out nine in 6 1/3 innings in what was believed to be his final rehab start for Class AAA Indianapolis Tuesday, May 19. He's recovering from hip surgery to fix his labrum in September of last year. Morton is expected to take the rotation spot of SP Vance Worley.
Fantasy Tip: Morton ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should be added in all deep mixed and AL-only leagues before he's activated from the DL. You should probably take a wait-and-see approach with him at FantasyScore, but he could eventually become a nice matchup play, especially when pitching at home at pitcher-friendly PNC Park.

Fantasy Tip: McCutchen ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in 13 of his 18 games this month and three home runs in his last eight games. McCutchen has been playing well lately and could be a nightly starting option on FantasyScore.
