Fantasy Tip: Marte ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is out for the second day in a row but the team doesn't believe he will need a DL stint. Plan accordingly and bench Marte. Rodriguez ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is hitting .133 in the past week and shouldn't be an option, even though he is hitting .500 against Padres starter Tyson Ross.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and two runs scored Monday, July 6, against the San Diego Padres, extending his hitting streak to 13 games. The streak matches Cutch's career best set in 2009.
Fantasy Tip: McCutchen ($5,800; or 11.6% of cap) doesn't have a lengthy history against Tuesday's Padres SP Tyson Ross, but he does have a homer in seven career at-bats against the righty. Keep rolling with Cutch in FantasyScore while he is riding that wave.

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte (side) said he felt better Monday, July 6, than he did Sunday, July 5, and he does not expect to need a stint on the disabled list. Marte also noted the injury does not feel as bad as the strained right oblique injury he dealt with in 2012.
Fantasy Tip: Marte ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) could be sidelined for another game or two, but it is encouraging he is hopeful to avoid the disabled list. FantasyScore players will want to avoid him until he returns to action and proves his health.

Fantasy Tip: Jung Ho Kung ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) projects to receive the majority of playing time in Harrison's absence, and Kung warrants an add in most year-long formats. Harrison is worth stashing in seasonal leagues.
Mon, 06 Jul 2015 12:53:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) could see an extended look batting first with Josh Harrison (thumb) expected to miss six weeks, so Polanco's fantasy stock has the potential to skyrocket. He has struggled to fully to take off this season, but he has 37 runs and 17 stolen bases, so there is upside for those columns to be padded even more going forward.

Fantasy Tip: Kang ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) checks out as an upside flier for FantasyScore players Monday. It isn't an ideal matchup, but hitting behind Andrew McCutchen ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) helps Kang's fantasy stock. Kang is also likely to receive near-everyday at-bats with Josh Harrison (thumb) expected to miss the next six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Marte ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) was off to a torrid start in July (.977 OPS), and he remains one of the rare five-category contributors in yearly formats. Expect him to return to lineup Tuesday, July 7, and continue to be a high-end FantasyScore and seasonal option.
Mon, 06 Jul 2015 12:37:53 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Harrison's ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) absence will be a boon for Jung Ho Kang's ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) fantasy stock. Like Harrison, Kang is a versatile fielder who can play all over the diamond. Seasonal owners will want to stash Harrison in a disabled list slot, if possible. Kang is worth adding in the majority of formats, as he boasts modest upside.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte (side) is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 6. OF Sean Rodriguez is starting in left field and batting eighth against San Diego Padres SP James Shields Monday.
Fantasy Tip: Marte ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) left the game early Sunday, July 5, so fantasy owners will want to be on the lookout for updates concerning his health. Make sure to check back. Rodriguez ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is hardly a viable FantasyScore option Monday, as his .649 OPS against righties is rather underwhelming.
Mon, 06 Jul 2015 07:57:21 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Walker ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is at a price point that presents a lot of upside on FantasyScore during his hot stretch.
Sun, 05 Jul 2015 15:18:11 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cole ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) is a must start in all FantasyScore and league formats, as he may be one of the best pitchers in the National League at the moment.
Sun, 05 Jul 2015 12:58:35 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Marte ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) suffered the injury after swinging and missing during his at-bat in the fourth inning. He grabbed at his side and appeared to be in pain but remained in the game for two more pitches before exiting. Check back for updates on his status.

Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Jung Ho Kang will start in the field and hit fifth in the order Sunday, July 5, against the Cleveland Indians and RHP Danny Salazar. 2B Josh Harrison will start in right field, and OF Gregory Polanco comes out of the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Kang ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has gone 2-for-19 in his last four starts, and he doesn't have an extra-base hit since June 17. FantasyScore owners should look for an option with a higher floor.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 16:32:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It was his second solid start in a row. At $3,900 (7.8% of cap), he might be a sleeper starter to consider on FantasyScore.
Fri, 03 Jul 2015 17:10:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Taillon, who had been recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery, is considered to be one of the top pitching prospects in baseball. After suffering this latest setback, it's possible that he won't resume pitching until 2016. Despite these injuries, he remains worthy of monitoring in long-term keeper and dynasty leagues.
