Fantasy Tip: Francisco Cervelli ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is receiving the day off after catching last night's game. Stewart ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is an intriguing option for FantasyScore owners who typically punt the catcher position.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners should be able to find better options at the hot corner than Kang ($2,400, 4.8% of cap), who is starting because INF Josh Harrison ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is playing second base.

Fantasy Tip: Morton ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will meet with the Pirates staff this week to possibly throw a bullpen session. He's not quite ready yet, but monitor Morton's progress and see what transpires in the next couple weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Josh Harrison ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) had been leading off, but Polanco ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) might be better suited for the gig. Polanco is 15-for-44 (.341 average) with 12 runs and five stolen bases over his last 12 games, after all. Polanco's stolen base and runs scored potential receives a boost leading off, but his RBI takes a minor hit. Overall, consider it a positive for Polanco.

Fantasy Tip: Cole ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) appears to be emerging as a high-end arm in the real and fake game. He now has 286 innings at the majors, and the arrow is pointing straight up for the 24-year-old righty and 2011 first overall selection. FantasyScore players will want to consider Cole whenever he takes the hill, and especially in favorable matchups.

Fantasy Tip: Cervelli ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has started seven of the last eight games, so he is likely receiving a day off. Stewart ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has only gone 3-for-14 at the plate and is not a great option on FantasyScore.
Wed, 29 Apr 2015 13:05:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Kang ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has three hits and four RBI in his last four games but is only hitting .182 this season. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use their lineups.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) does have six hits in his last six games, so he is likely just receiving an off day. Jung-Ho Kang ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be the starting third baseman but probably is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore.
Wed, 29 Apr 2015 12:48:55 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) missed the previous two games because of an injury but appears to be ready to play. Polanco was playing well prior to the injury and could be an option for owners on FantasyScore.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen (knee) said he was "80%" healthy earlier in the month, and he's enduring one of the worst slumps to start a season in his career. His walk and strikeout totals are normal, but his power has been lacking. McCutchen missed two weeks in spring with a knee issue, but manager Clint Hurdle doesn't think that's the reason for McCutchen's slow start.
Fantasy Tip: McCutchen ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) is hitting only .179 (12-for-67) with two home runs, 11 RBI and no stolen bases on one attempt. The lack of power and aggressiveness on the base paths are the most concerning to his owners, especially if his knee ailment is playing a part. He's not worth paying up for right now at FantasyScore until we see some signs of life. You might want to consider benching him in standard leagues for the time being, as well.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco (groin) took batting practice Tuesday, April 28, prior to the game against the Chicago Cubs. Polanco said he is fine and is feeling better. OF Sean Rodriguez is starting in right field and batting eighth in the order.
Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) could be worth a look in GPP tournaments on FantasyScore as he is hitting .353 through 18 plate appearances, with one home run and a stolen base. Rodriguez is a career .227 hitter so regression is on the way, but anyone looking in the range of $200 above the minimum price, will be hard pressed to do better.

Fantasy Tip: Mercer ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting .188 in the past week, with one run batted in and three hits in 16 at-bats. It may be a shakeup in the lineup, but Mercer still isn't worth picking up with numbers like this.
Tue, 28 Apr 2015 13:37:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Alvarez ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is likely sitting because Travis Wood, a lefty, is pitching. Remove him from your lineup. Hart ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is hitting .200 and is not worth the cost even at the low price.
Tue, 28 Apr 2015 13:31:27 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) had groin tightness that hampered him the day before, so this should come as no surprise. Sean Rodriguez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has a .353 batting average in limited duty, so he may be a decent play if you're looking for low-cost production.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco (groin) is considered "day to day" due to tightness in his groin, manager Clint Hurdle said Monday, April 27. He suffered the injury over the weekend while running the bases in Arizona.
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners will want to play it safe and wait to see Polanco ($3,700; 7.4% of cap) officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks before trusting him again.
