Fantasy Tip: Morse ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) takes on lefty Brandon Finnegan, but he hasn't stood out against lefties this year. There are better options on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) takes on lefty Brandon Finnegan, and he has hit slightly better against lefties with .288 average this season. He's a low-to-midrange option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Cervelli's ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) slam was his seventh home run of the year but his first since Aug. 9. His high batting average and modest price could make him attractive to FantasyScore owners but don't count on seeing much power out of him.

Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole (19-8) allowed two runs on seven hits over seven innings in a victory over the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the first game of a doubleheader. He walked none and struck out two.
Fantasy Tip: Cole ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) has thrown seven innings in four of his last five outings. He won't pitch again during the regular season but makes a solid postseason playoff option in FantasyScore.

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker and 1B Pedro Alvarez are not in the lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader against St. Louis Cardinals left-handed SP Tyler Lyons Wednesday, Sept. 30. 3B Josh Harrison is starting at second base and hitting leadoff, while 1B Michael Morse is at first base and is batting sixth.
Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has a triple slash line of .293/.355/.374 against lefties this year and has been hot in September. He makes for a great value pick tonight against the lefty Lyon. Morse ($3,300, 6.6% of cap), on the other hand, hasn't done much all year and is strictly a lotto ticket as a deep sleeper.

Fantasy Tip: A-Ram ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is 2-for-6 (.333) with a homer off Michael Wacha. He is hitting just .188 the last week, but Ramirez has owned the Cardinals in his career. He's a speculative flyer on FantasyScore.

The game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, was postponed due to inclement weather. Cardinals SP Michael Wacha was slated to face Pirates SP Charlie Morton.
Fantasy Tip: Hurry up and make sure you take all players from this game out of your daily lineups.
Mon, 28 Sep 2015 13:16:47 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) doesn't have any home runs and just four RBI this month, but he's also hitting .306 (22-for-72) with six doubles. Lynn has been up and down this month but had six shutout innings in his last inning. You could do much worse than Harrison as a value play on FantasyScore tonight.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel Saturday, Sept. 26. OF Travis Snider will start in right field and is batting second in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) probably will return to the starting lineup in the next few days. Snider ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is hitting only .200 this month but does have eight RBI during that span. Owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.
Fri, 25 Sep 2015 18:22:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cole's ($9,400, 18.8% of cap) 18 victories are the most for any Pittsburgh starter since John Smiley won 20 games in 1991. His final start of the regular season is scheduled to come against the Cincinnati Reds Friday, Oct. 2, and he makes one of FantasyScore's best starting pitching options.

Pittsburgh Pirates 1B Pedro Alvarez and 2B Neil Walker are not in the lineup against Chicago Cubs left-handed SP Jon Lester Friday, Sept. 25. 1B Michael Morse is starting at first base and batting sixth, while 3B Josh Harrison is starting at the keystone and hitting seventh.
Fantasy Tip: Despite having plenty of power, Morse ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is having a rough year and remains a low-end first base option. Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has hit well in September and is worth considering because of his .305/.362/.389 slash line against lefties this year.
Fri, 25 Sep 2015 10:23:43 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Coming off an injury and facing a tough lefty, Polanco ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) isn't a strong daily pick. He's hitting just .207 (24-for-116) with two of his nine home runs against southpaws. A-Ram ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is more acceptable as a value pick and has five hits in 11 career at-bats against Lester, but he too is coming off an injury.
Fri, 25 Sep 2015 07:57:53 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) sat out as a precaution Thursday and could do so again Friday, so make sure he's in the lineup before taking him on FantasyScore. The Bucs are facing Chicago Cubs lefty Jon Lester, though, so it's probably best to avoid him anyway this afternoon.

Pittsburgh Pirates CL Mark Melancon struck out two of the three batters he faced Thursday, Sept. 23, against the Colorado Rockies, to earn his 50th save of the season. He became the seventh pitcher in National League history to accomplish the feat.
Fantasy Tip: Melancon has been one of the most reliable closers in the game. He converted his sixth save in as many opportunities this month and opposing batters are hitting just .071 against him in September.

Fantasy Tip: Ride the wave on FantasyScore with Marte ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) while he's seeing the ball well.
