Pittsburgh Pirates SP A.J. Burnett won his fifth straight game on Thursday, May 28, when the Pirates beat the San Diego Padres 11-5. Burnett allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings, struck out six and walked two.
Fantasy Tip: Burnett ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) has definitely found his stride in Pittsburgh, in what he says is his final year as a major league pitcher. He is definitely a must-start in FantasyScore leagues as long as Burnett keeps up this hot streak.

Fantasy Tip: Taillon is the team's No. 2 overall prospect behind Tyler Glasnow. Taillon is recovering from Tommy John surgery after missing all of the 2014 season. It's unclear what his timetable is for a possible call-up to the major leagues, and it may not happen until rosters expand in September. Taillon may be worth stashing in dynasty and keeper leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has been in a funk at the plate, going 4-for-30 (.133) with one RBI since May 13. He does have 12 stolen bases on the season, but hitting near the bottom of the order will mitigate his fantasy value for his speed. Until we see signs of life from Polanco with the lumber, it's best to stay away from him at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Burnett ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) leads the National League with a 1.37 ERA this year in nine starts. He also has a WHIP of 1.10 and 53 strikeouts in 59 innings. While Burnett is likely due for some regression this year, a matchup against the Padres at FantasyScore is attractive. The Friars rank fourth in all of baseball with 380 strikeouts as a team this year, and the start will come at pitcher-friendly Petco Park.

Fantasy Tip: Stewart ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has almost zero offensive upside, and he should be ignored at FantasyScore.
Wed, 27 May 2015 09:28:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Mercer's ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) FantasyScore value is boosted a bit with a move to the top of the lineup, but he's still not a very attractive option. He's hitting only .193 (23-for-119) with no home runs and nine RBI on the season.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is out of the lineup again Wednesday, May 27. 3B Josh Harrison moves to right field and is hitting leadoff against Miami Marlins SP Brad Hand, while SS Jung Ho Kang starts at third base again.
Fantasy Tip: Both Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) have been swinging hot bats of late, and both are solid FantasyScore options against Hand, who is making a spot start for the Fish. For that matter, stacking your daily lineups with Pirates hitters isn't a bad idea today.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is a mid-tier second base option who is 3-for-8 with two runs, a home run and three RBI over his past two games. Moving down the lineup should help his RBI potential, but it is worth noting his struggles against left-handed pitchers this season (.526 OPS over 28 plate appearances).
Tue, 26 May 2015 20:59:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has at least one hit in 12 of his last 13 games and has at least two hits in seven of those games. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Harrison in their lineup during his hot streak.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Gregory Polanco is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 26. 3B Josh Harrison moves to right field, and SS Jung Ho Kang is starting at third base and hitting fifth in the batting order against Miami Marlins SP Jose Urena.
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is hitting .192 (14-for-73) with no homers and five RBI this month while striking out 16 times. He's a weak play until he shows signs of life. Both Harrison ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) could be excellent value plays tonight against Urena, who is making his big league starting debut.
Mon, 25 May 2015 13:15:32 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Kang ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is likely receiving a day off and should be in the starting lineup in a game or two. Mercer ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting only .154 this month and should not be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.
Sun, 24 May 2015 09:55:02 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Mercer ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting only .140 this month and appears to have lost his starting job. Owners on FantasyScore should look for better option to use at shortstop on FantasyScore.
Sun, 24 May 2015 09:50:21 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The Pirates are facing a left-handed starter, so Alvarez ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is receiving the day off. Rodriguez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) only has one hit in his last eight games and may not be the best option for owners on FantasyScore.
Sun, 24 May 2015 09:46:07 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Polanco ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) likely is sitting out since the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Tabata has picked up two hits in his three at-bats since joining the team but may need more plate appearances to be trusted as a starting fantasy option.
Sun, 24 May 2015 09:39:22 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has struggled as a right-handed hitter, so he is receiving the day off. Harrison ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) has been on a hot streak and should be a starting option for owners on FantasyScore.
