Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800; 7.6% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a start or two without any lingering effects of his injury.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence's (forearm) swings Tuesday, May 5, impressed manager Bruce Bochy so much that the organization is accelerating the plan to begin his minor league rehab assignment. An announcement concerning Pence's rehab assignment is expected Thursday, May 7. "I thought he was really, really close to normal swings," said Bochy, after watching Pence's session on Tuesday. "He handled velocity off the machine well. He's still going to be stiff when he starts out, but it's loosening up to the point where he's letting it go. He's not hesitating and that's a good sign."
Fantasy Tip: Continue to stash Pence ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) in all seasonal formats and check back for updates concerning his rehab assignment and an updated return timeline. FantasyScore players will want to be patient with Pence initially. He has missed a lot of time and there will likely be an adjustment period to major league pitching.

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee remains on the bench for the second straight day Wednesday, May 6. 2B Matt Duffy is starting at third base again and hitting eighth in the batting order against San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy.
Fantasy Tip: McGehee is hitting only .181 (13-for-72) on the season and could ride pine more frequently if he doesn't turn things around quickly. Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has very little offensive upside, especially hitting at the bottom of the lineup. Avoid him at FantasyScore.

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is taking the day off Wednesday, May 6. C Andrew Susac draws the start behind the dish and is hitting seventh in the batting order against San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy.
Fantasy Tip: Susac ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has a home run in 21 at-bats this year, but he profiles as a low-end catching option at FantasyScore on a day with a full slate of games, plus one due to a double header.
Wed, 06 May 2015 10:46:09 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is off to a great start this year (.350-0-8) with three stolen bases for the Gigantes. However, he is just 6-for-30 (.200) with one RBI in his career against Kennedy. There isn't a ton of upside for FantasyScore users this afternoon.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy is inching closer to returning, but he's really a fringe mixed league starter. Stash him if you have space.
Wed, 06 May 2015 10:03:15 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cain is still weeks away from returning but is worth stashing on your DL if you have space.

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence (forearm) could begin a minor league rehab assignment within a week. Pence has progressed from hitting off a tee to exhibiting solid contact in batting practice in recent days.
Fantasy Tip: Pence could be a couple weeks away from returning and should be stashed on one of your DL spots.
Tue, 05 May 2015 20:16:02 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Justin Maxwell ($2,100; 4.2% of cap) slid into the lineup in Pagan's place, while Gregor Blanco ($2,000; 4.0% of cap) moved from right to center field.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee was given off Tuesday, May 5, against the San Diego Padres to rest, and he might get Wednesday, May 6, off, too. Manager Bruce Bochy said McGehee needs to back off to relieve pressure on himself.
Fantasy Tip: McGehee has been struggling, so Bochy plugged Matt Duffy ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) in at third base Tuesday. Duffy could also get a look Wednesday, making him a sound low-end FantasyScore option who can help you save plenty of salary to spread across other positions.
Tue, 05 May 2015 17:56:32 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) is a decent low-end FantasyScore option, as it will not take much to live up to salary expectations while helping you save money at other more valuable positions.

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee was held out of the lineup Tuesday, May 5, against the San Diego Padres. He has been struggling, so manager Bruce Bochy gave him a day to "let him catch his breath."
Fantasy Tip: Avoid McGehee ($2,100; 4.2% of cap) in FantasyScore until he starts to hit with more consistency. Matt Duffy ($1,600; 3.2% of cap) made the start at third base and is a decent low-end option while starting.
Tue, 05 May 2015 08:58:41 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cain ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) could return to the Giants' starting rotation in a week or two. He won't be a popular FantasyScore start, though, at least initially. Cain is two years removed from a 16-win season and 2.79 ERA, and injuries have derailed him the last two years. He'll have to prove he's fully healthy before fantasy owners can trust him again.

San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner looks for better results against the San Diego Padres Monday, May 4. In his first meeting with the Padres April 11 he was pounded for five runs and 10 hits while lasting just three innings.
Fantasy Tip: Bumgarner ($8,500; 17.0% of cap) pieced it together for FantasyScore owners last time out, and he rarely struggles in back-to-back outings against anyone, so look for a much better stat line Monday.

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence (arm) will take batting practice the next two days and then rest Wednesday, May 6, then take BP again the next two days, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Pence would then go on a minor league rehab assignment.
Fantasy Tip: Pence ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) could be back with the team later this month to make his season debut. In the meantime, Justin Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is likely to continue seeing the majority of starts in right field. He started hot last month but has since come back down to earth. Maxwell is a weaker outfield play at FantasyScore.
