Fantasy Tip: The 36-year-old veteran still has a bit of pop in his lumber, but his playing time will be limited wherever he lands. Uribe is strictly a late-round flier in deep single-universe leagues for bench depth.

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) is unlikely to re-sign with the San Francisco Giants with their starting rotation already full. Lincecum could, however, be considered for a bullpen role as he recovers from hip surgery. SP Chris Heston, who made 31 starts for the Giants last year, also appears headed for a bullpen role.
Fantasy Tip: Injury concerns are Lincecum's biggest hurdle heading into the 2016 season, and he'll likely sign somewhere for plenty of incentives. There's no guarantee he'll be a starter again wherever he lands, and there's plenty of fantasy risk surrounding him in NL-only leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Belt hit .280 with 18 home runs and 68 RBIs in 137 games last season. He should be drafted in the middle rounds of NL-only fantasy leagues and the later rounds of mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: OFs Angel Pagan, Denard Span and Hunter Pence will comprise San Francisco's starting outfield, meaning Blanco will begin the year in a reserve role. However, all three players missed considerable playing time in 2015, so he could receive enough at-bats to be worthy of selecting as a bench player for NL-only fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: As a result of signing Span, the Giants are no longer expected to be in the running for other free-agent outfielders such as Yoenis Cespedes (Mets) and Justin Upton (Padres). Span should be viewed as a late-round flier for deep mixed fantasy leagues because of his ability to score runs, steal bases and hit for a high average. Pagan has had difficulty remaining healthy in recent seasons and has seen a decline in his speed and power numbers, so he shouldn't be targeted outside of NL-only and deep universal leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Span played just 61 games in 2015, so having him ready to go already is encouraging for the veteran playing a full season in 2016. He can help in runs, stolen bases and batting average, but he is still likely best viewed as a late-round option in mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Entering his age-32 season, Span is likely looking at the twilight of his best fantasy years, and he also was limited to just 61 games in 2015. Span has a .301 batting average over the past two seasons, and he still boasts target-worthy speed, but he isn't anything more than a late-round grab in the majority of mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Span projects as a low-end outfielder in the majority of leagues with much more value in cavernous mixed and NL-only formats, if he does sign with San Francisco.

Fantasy Tip: A return to the National League will help Cueto return to his dominant self, especially with his elbow injuries behind him. A rough adjustment to the American League plagued his otherwise solid six-year run, and it could lead to Cueto being a nice value pick in the early middle rounds this spring. View him as a mid- to low-end No. 1 arm for your virtual rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Cueto is entering his age-30 season, and his fantasy value could be a little low following his horrible conclusion to the 2015 campaign with the Kansas City Royals. Still, he has been much better in the National League and returned excellent numbers in each of the past five seasons in the NL. View him as a No. 1 starter option for your virtual rotation and second-tier arm overall.

Updating an ongoing story, free-agent SP Johnny Cueto (Royals) reached a six-year contract agreement with the San Francisco Giants, pending a physical, according to sources. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Tip: Entering the 2015 season, Cueto owned a 2.73 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and a 7.4 K/9 over his previous five seasons, and before a mid-season deal to the Kansas City Royals, Cueto sported a 2.62 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP and a 8.3 K/9 last year. The American League was unkind to Cueto, though, and his fantasy stock could be a little undervalued this spring. View him as a second-tier arm worthy of targeting as a mid-range No. 1 starter for your fantasy rotation.

Fantasy Tip: A return to the National League would bode well for Cueto rebounding from his rough finish to the 2015 season. He should be viewed as a potential mid-range No. 1 starter for your fantasy rotation, especially if he lands with the Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Cueto would benefit greatly with a return to the National League in a pitcher's park after struggling with his transition to the American League in the second half last year for the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: San Francisco is looking for another hurler to fill out their starting rotation. Leake and Chen are low-end grabs in seasonal leagues because of their lack of strikeout upside, and should be reserved for deep mixed formats and usage as streamers in favorable matchups. Kennedy has upside as an end-of-the-rotation arm for your virtual rotation, especially if he sticks in the National League.
