Fantasy Tip: Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has struggled, but this was a vintage performance and he could be worth using in FantasyScore at a cut-rate price if he pieces together another quality start or two.

San Francisco Giants C Andrew Susac said Tuesday, Aug. 4, that he has good and bad days with the rehab of his sprained right thumb, but he might be ready to test his injury more rigorously. He has been practicing his swing in the cages, and could take on-field batting practice as early as Wednesday, Aug. 5, or Thursday, Aug. 6.
Fantasy Tip: Susac is a useful FantasyScore option when he is behind the dish, as he has a little bit of offensive upside with not that heavy of a price tag ($2,100, 4.2% of cap).

San Francisco Giants 3B Matt Duffy has picked up his defense at third base to complement his offensive productivity. He ranks fifth among National League third base in fielding percentage, and is higher in other modern metrics.
Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is playing regularly, and he is starting to make Frisco fans forget about Pablo Sandoval, who moved on to the Boston Red Sox in the offseason.

San Francisco Giants RPs Santiago Casilla and Sergio Romo have been struggling lately, particularly against left-handed hitters. Over the past 20 at-bats, lefties are hitting .328 against Casilla, and .450 off of Romo. RP Javier Lopez was used Monday, Aug. 3, against a lefty to start the ninth inning, but manager Bruce Bochy plans to stick with Romo setting up Casilla for now.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners in standard formats have been frustrated with the duo, but for now it appears to be status quo in San Francisco as Bochy lets each pitcher work through their problems rather than demote them to less stressful situations to iron out their issues.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could make another start in the outfield, saving FantasyScore owners plenty of money to load up at other positions, although manager Bruce Bochy did say there is a chance Pagan returns Wednesday.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (knee) was out of the lineup for a second straight game Tuesday, Aug. 4, but manager Bruce Bochy said Pagan might start the series finale against the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) might return Wednesday, but FantasyScore players would be wise to avoid him until he can officially get a game under his belt and prove his health without any setbacks. Gregor Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) made the start for Pagan Tuesday.

Fantasy Tip: Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) appears to have first crack at the at-bats at second base with Panik on the mend, and he isn't a terrible throwaway option up the middle. If he has a hit or two, he'll meet salary expectations, but if not you almost have a free spot and plenty of salary to spread across more valuable positions in FantasyScore such as pitcher.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain how long Panik will be sidelined, but Ehire Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) gets the chance to show what he can do at second base in Panik's stead.

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (knees) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 4. OF Gregor Blanco is starting in center field and hitting second against Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller.
Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has good splits against right-handers this season (.306-3-18 in 183 at-bats). However, despite a lack of wins to back him, Miller has been one of the better pitchers in baseball this year with a 2.44 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 111 strikeouts in 133 innings. Blanco's price is very attractive, but selecting him for your daily lineups could backfire tonight.

San Francisco Giants RP Santiago Casilla blew the save against the Atlanta Braves Monday, Aug. 3, which led to a loss for the Giants in the 12th inning. It was his fifth blown save of the year, but Giants TV announcer Duane Kuiper doesn't think manager Bruce Bochy will make a change in the ninth inning. Casilla is 4-2 this year with a 3.32 ERA and 27 saves, and he had converted seven straight saves before his blown save Monday. Kuiper doesn't think RP Hunter Strickland is a candidate to replace Casilla.
Fantasy Tip: If Casilla were to be demoted from ninth-inning duties, it'd likely be Sergio Romo, and not Strickland, moving into the role. Romo has experience closing with the Giants. If you're looking for saves and weren't able to land a reliever that moved into the role at the trade deadline, Romo might be your ticket for saves down the stretch if Casilla comes unraveled.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to look for an update to see the severity of Pagan's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) injuries. Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting .296 with 20 RBI this season and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Panik ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) will be sidelined for at least a few weeks because of the injury, but owners will receive a better timetable after he undergoes the tests. Ehire Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Kelby Tomlinson are options to start at second base but are not great fantasy options.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 13:39:06 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore players Monday. With Joe Panik (back) on the disabled list, Adrianza and Kelby Tomlinson project to split time at second base. Their fantasy value is limited, though.

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik (back) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday, Aug. 3, because of lower back inflammation. The team also recalled 2B Kelby Tomlinson from Class AAA Sacramento.
Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor Panik's ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) recovery to see when he will be able to return to the lineup. Ehire Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Kelby Tomlinson could see playing time while Panik is out. Neither is a great option for owners in most fantasy leagues, but Tomlinson could be an NL-only option because of his speed.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 17:43:49 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Panik ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has missed three of the last six games, and it sounds like his back issue is a lingering problem. He has been one of the steadier options at second base, but you will have to monitor his status one game-to-game basis if you plan on using him at FantasyScore.
