Fantasy Tip: Casilla, who hadn't worked since Friday, entered the game with the Giants trailing 10-9 and let the A's build a four-run lead; the Giants would lose, 13-11. That broke a string of six straight scoreless outings, during which Casilla was 5-for-5 on save opportunities. He's obviously not an airtight option as a closer, but the Giants seem willing to work through these hiccups.

Fantasy Tip: This was Gillaspie's second four-hit performance in eight games since Matt Duffy went on the DL. In that time, Gillaspie is 12-for-29 (.414) with a home run, six RBI and six runs scored. His long-term value is almost nil, but he could provide a short-term boost in NL-only setups.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford came up a home run short of the cycle, but it was still a huge night with his five RBI matching a season high (set May 17 against the Padres). He's still without a home run in June, but his 49 RBI are one shy of Trevor Story/Xander Bogaerts, who lead the position with 50. Even with that, Crawford is better suited to larger mixed leagues until he rediscovers his power stroke.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik (concussion) had passed concussion tests for three consecutive days. He was hit in the head 10 days ago against the Tampa Bay Rays, and is feeling concussion-like symptoms again.
Fantasy Tip: Panik should be avoided in all fantasy leagues and DFS play until he is able to officially return and play a full game or two without any lingering effects of his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Romo has been one of the better setup men in baseball the last few years, and he had a 2.70 ERA and 0.60 WHIP in four outings before his injury. Santiago Casilla isn't in danger of losing his job as the closer anytime soon, though, so Romo's fantasy value is limited to much deeper leagues or as a handcuff for Casilla owners.

San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, June 28, and make a rehab start in the Arizona League Friday, July 1, and he's expected to return after the All-Star break.
Fantasy Tip: Cain is far from the fantasy ace he was a handful of years ago for the Giants, and his 5.34 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 6.4 K/9 in 2016 is evidence of that. He's merely a matchup play in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues when he's back in SF's rotation.

Fantasy Tip: This stems from a beaning in Tampa 10 days ago, so it's troubling for Panik and the Giants. He could need a trip to the 7-day concussion DL, and concussions are always tricky to recover from. Panik is more of an NL-only commodity with a limited offensive profile at the keystone. Stay tuned for more details from the Giants tonight or tomorrow.

Fantasy Tip: Williamson shouldn't be on many owners' radars. He's hitting .263 with two home runs and four RBI in at-bats for the Gigantes. Consider him a deep sleeper for daily leagues tonight.

Fantasy Tip: Samardzija has managed just one win over his past six starts, and he has allowed six or more earned runs in three of his five June starts, as his ERA has ballooned from 2.84 to 3.91. Despite the rough patch he remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues, as he'll get it turned around.

Fantasy Tip: Pena was the only bright spot in a very disappointing night for the Giants. Pena is getting more playing time with Matt Duffy sidelined, and he is hitting .414 overall. While he doesn't have much power he is worth scooping up in deeper NL-only fantasy leagues since he is seeing semi-regular playing time and making the most of it.

San Francisco Giants RP Sergio Romo (elbow) came out of his latest rehab appearance OK Sunday, June 26, and he will appear in at least one more game for Class A San Jose. The team is being "super cautious" to ensure he's healthy.
Fantasy Tip: Romo has been out since April 10 and the Giants are understandably being cautious with one of the key pieces of their bullpen, considering he's already had one setback when he was supposed to return to the club weeks ago. Romo is a must-add reliever in leagues that score holds when he's back healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Panik is hitting .259 overall on the season but is one home run shy of his career-high eight he hit last season. Still, Panik offers very modest production across the board for fantasy owners, and he's mainly a source of respectable average in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.
Mon, 27 Jun 2016 15:33:33 -0700
San Francisco Giants SP Jeff Samardzija is 1-2 with a 6.41 ERA and has allowed eight home runs in 26 2/3 innings in his last five starts after starting the year 7-3 with a 2.54 ERA in his first 10 starts.
Fantasy Tip: Samardzija has a history of being inconsistent, and his fantasy owners haven't been thrilled with his performance of late. However, a matchup against the A's tonight at home looks nice for him to rebound as a contrarian play in daily formats. After all it is Shark Week, so Samardzija should be focused and ready to go.

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span is hitting .198 on the year with a .255 on-base percentage in June, and he has 23 strikeouts in 100 plate appearances after striking out three times Sunday, June 26. Manager Bruce Bochy said he isn't considering moving OF Angel Pagan to the leadoff spot in place of Span, though. Pagan has been providing protection for C Buster Posey and SS Brandon Crawford in the sixth spot.
Fantasy Tip: Span's average is down to .250 on the year, and he has just three home runs and 27 RBI despite stealing eight bases from the leadoff spot. Span offers some steal potential but can't be started in any fantasy league with confidence right now.
Mon, 27 Jun 2016 15:14:39 -0700
San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (rest) is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 27. SS Ramiro Pena is starting in his place at shortstop and batting seventh versus Oakland Athletics SP Daniel Mengden.
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Crawford is simply getting a night off. Pena interestingly has 10 hits in his first 25 at-bats this season as a part-timer, but having not done anything of note since first coming up in 2009, he's someone that shouldn't even be an option for daily formats tonight.
