San Francisco Giants SP Jeff Samardzija had his first off outing in awhile Monday, May 30, opposite the Atlanta Braves. He worked five innings, yielding five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks, while striking out four.
Fantasy Tip: Coming into Monday, Samardzija was 4-1 in five starts for the month with a 1.41 ERA and 0.89 ERA, so this outcome certainly wasn't expected against the worst team in the majors. However, he's been so good lately that his owners will just have to forgive him and hope he can get back on track this weekend in his next assignment.

Fantasy Tip: While it's only No. 5 on the year, Belt has been helpful in just about everything else, as he's put together a really nice .294/.413/.488 line up to this point. If he's able to tack onto his home run total consistently, that would only be gravy for his owners. Most likely, he should wind up with around 20 or more deep flies.

San Francisco Giants 3B Matt Duffy's (wrist) X-rays on his left wrist were negative, and he is considered day-to-day. Duffy was hit by a pitch during the game against the Atlanta Braves Monday, May 30, and he had to leave the game.
Fantasy Tip: Duffy has just 12 RBI this season with a .245/.307/.342 slash line, which are underwhelming numbers after he provided a nice five-category return in 2015. At this point, he is a low-end option outside of cavernous mixed and NL-only setups. Stay tuned for updates on Duffy, and look for Kelby Tomlinson to see time at the hot corner while Duffy is out.

Fantasy Tip: Cueto has pitched very well in his first season with Giants, but owners should monitor the situation to see if he suffers any setbacks. Cueto should be a starting candidate in all leagues as long as he is healthy.

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz Monday, May 30. OF Jarrett Parker will start in left field and is batting seventh in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Parker has recorded four hits in his last five games and has one RBI during that span. Parker could be a sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues, but owners should be able to find better options to use.

Fantasy Tip: Brown has recorded at least one hit in three of his last four games and is hitting .250 in limited playing time this season. Brown should be an option in two-catcher leagues and may have some value in daily fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Pence pushed his average back over .300, and he is on pace for more than 100 RBI. After injuries ruined his 2015 campaign, Pence is back to being an every-day starter in all fantasy formats.

San Francisco Giants SP Johnny Cueto (back) dealt with a sore back that was stretched frequently between innings, but he made it through six innings in a win over the Colorado Rockies, allowing one earned run on six hits while walking two and striking out five Sunday, May 29.
Fantasy Tip: The fact that the Giants let Cueto stay in the game would seem to indicate that the back issue isnít too serious. That being said, monitor the situation to make sure is able to make his next start.

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin Sunday, May 29. 2B Kelby Tomlinson will start at second base and is batting second in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Tomlinson is hitting .439 so far this month but has only two RBI in his last eight games. He can be a decent sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues because of his recent play.

Fantasy Tip: Posey isn't having the best season of his career, but he is still one the stronger offensive catchers and an every-day starter in all formats.

The San Francisco Giants plan to place SP Matt Cain (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list due to a right hamstring injury suffered during the second inning of his start against the Colorado Rockies Friday, May 27. The move is not yet official because the team would like to review his MRI exam results first.
Fantasy Tip: If Cain is unable to pitch Wednesday, June 1, Albert Suarez would likely receive the starting nod against the Atlanta Braves, after tossing five innings in relief Friday. A DL stint for Cain would probably result in former first-round pick Chris Stratton being promoted to the majors to serve as a long reliever but he would have little fantasy value in that particular role.

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span (hip) has been scratched from the starting lineup against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, May 28, because of a bruised right hip. OF Gregor Blanco will bat leadoff and play center field in his place, with OF Jarrett Parker batting seventh and playing left field.
Fantasy Tip: Span is experiencing some residual soreness after crashing into the outfield wall earlier this week but the injury is considered minor. Blanco is 3-for-8 with a pair of doubles in his career versus Rockies SP Eddie Butler, so DFS players may want to consider taking a flier on him this afternoon. Parker is just 3-for-14 this season and is nothing more than a source of desperation cap relief.
Sat, 28 May 2016 10:28:35 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Both players have favorable matchups this afternoon. Belt is hitting .311 on the road this season and is 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in his career versus Butler. Pence is batting .301 with three home runs and 14 RBI this month and is 2-for-2 with a double against Butler.

San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain (hamstring) threw just 26 pitches against the Colorado Rockies on Friday, May 25, before he was removed after straining his right hamstring. Manager Bruce Bochy said after the game that Cain was scheduled to undergo an MRI tomorrow and could end up on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: This is a potentially discouraging setback for Cain, who had really turned things around in his last three starts -- 21 innings, 19 hits, four runs and 23 K's -- and was looking like the ace he once was. We'll need an update before anything is certain, but it appears as though Cain will miss some time.

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (ankle) said he could play Friday, May 27, or Saturday, May 28, after he took batting practice in the batting cage Friday. Belt sprained his left ankle sliding into second base during the game against the San Diego Padres Wednesday, May 25.
Fantasy Tip: Injuries seem to always creep up and limit Belt from fulfilling the upside he flashes in spurts. However, it seems he will be able to return soon this time. Thus far, Belt has a respectable 22 runs and 22 RBI with a .276/.407/.442 slash line, but owners hope he beefs up the power, as he sits with just four long flies. Check back to see if Belt returns to the starting lineup Saturday.
