Fantasy Tip: Walker has struggled with consistency all year, and he will be a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option in his return to the mound.

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind is not in the lineup Sunday, June 26, against St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia. OF Nelson Cruz will serve as the designated hitter and remain in his usual fourth spot in the order, while OF Franklin Gutierrez will replace Cruz in right and bat second. C Chris Iannetta will start behind the plate after a day off and hit seventh, while INF/OF Shawn O'Malley will replace OF Seth Smith in left and bat ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Gutierrez is hitting .295 with six homers and 18 RBI in 88 at-bats against southpaws this season. Although he's not a recommended DFS play, he should make for a solid fill-in in regular leagues. Iannetta has performed well versus left-handers as well in 2016 and could be worth a flyer in daily as well as weekly leagues. O'Malley can be avoided in all formats.

Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley (shoulder) appears to be in line to be activated from the disabled list Wednesday, June 29, for a start against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He retired all 12 batters he faced in a four-inning rehab appearance for Class A Everett Friday, June 24. Miley threw 54 pitches and struck out seven batters.
Fantasy Tip: Miley went 6-3 with a 5.28 ERA in 13 starts this year prior to landing on the DL. He should be avoided in daily fantasy contests in his first game back.

Seattle Mariners SP Adrian Sampson (elbow) has been diagnosed with a Grade III tear of his right flexor bundle and will need to undergo season-ending surgery. He is expected to be ready for spring training.
Fantasy Tip: Sampson went 7-4 with a 3.25 ERA in 13 starts for Class AAA Tacoma before being promoted and was tagged with the loss in his only big-league appearance before landing on the disabled list. The 24-year-old right-hander can be safely dropped in all seasonal formats.

Seattle Mariners SP Nathan Karns allowed four earned runs, five hits and two walks with three strikeouts over five innings in a win Saturday, June 25, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He threw just 58 of his 97 pitches for strikes.
Fantasy Tip: The win was the first for Karns since May 30, a span of five starts. He has a 7.32 ERA over five starts in 23 1/3 innings in June, and he should be avoided in all but the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues despite an impressive 6-2 record.

Fantasy Tip: Lind has stepped up with three homers and seven RBIs over his past seven games. He is a must-start in all AL-only fantasy leagues, deeper mixed formats and DFS play.

Fantasy Tip: LeBlanc, who last appeared in the majors on Sept. 28, 2014, was lights out against a tough Cardinals lineup in his M's debut. Despite that, it's hard to envision a scenario where LeBlanc remains in that position long term, especially with three members of the rotation currently out of action.

Fantasy Tip: Lind's power has been respectable recently -- five home runs in his last 11 games -- but the veteran continues to hit for a low average, particularly in June (9-for-53; .170). His power plays in AL-only circuits for sure, but his appeal doesn't extend much beyond that until he gets his average up.

Seattle Mariners SP Adrian Sampson (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, June 24, because of a right flexor bundle strain. The team also optioned RP Tom Wilhelmsen to Class AAA Tacoma. Ps Wade LeBlanc, Donn Roach and David Rollins were recalled from Class AAA Tacoma.
Fantasy Tip: It is not known who will take Sampson's spot in the starting rotation, but Taijuan Walker could return in the near future. Walker has a decent ERA despite his 3-6 record and should be used against favorable matchups.

Fantasy Tip: Nelson Cruz probably will receive regular playing time in the field with Aoki sent down. He should be a starter in all fantasy leagues. Dae-ho Lee should see more playing time at either first base or designated hitter. He is hitting .304 with three home runs and 11 RBI this month and should be a solid starting option in deeper mixed leagues.
Thu, 23 Jun 2016 16:58:19 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Unsurprisingly, Cruz is enjoying another stellar campaign in 2016, with a .285/.368/.526 line to go with his 18 long balls and 48 RBI. Being one of baseball's premier power hitters, just keep firing him up every time he's in the lineup.

Seattle Mariners SP Adrian Sampson (arm) felt something in his arm during warmups Thursday, June 23, and was scratched from his start. RP Vidal Nuno will make the emergency start against the Detroit Tigers.
Fantasy Tip: Sampson didn't have a lot of upside against the Tigers lineup, and Nuno is up against it as well. Pass on him in DFS.

Seattle Mariners 1B Adam Lind, OF Nori Aoki and OF Seth Smith are out of the lineup Thursday, June 23. SS Ketel Marte is leading off, OF Franklin Gutierrez hits second and 1B Dae-ho Lee hits fifth. OF Leonys Martin moved down to the eighth spot.
Fantasy Tip: Marte is hitting .290 with one RBI this month. He doesn't do much past hitting singles, but he has upside at leadoff against Daniel Norris. Gutierrez has a .298-6-18 line in 84 at-bats against lefties, and he's a low-end option. Lee has a .327-3-11 line this month, and he pounds lefties. He's a solid option today. Martin had that binge earlier this year before he got hurt, but his upside is limited against lefties. He's a low-end consideration today.

Settle Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma allowed five earned runs, 11 hits and three walks with five strikeouts in just 4 2/3 innings in a loss Wednesday, June 22, against the Detroit Tigers to drop to 6-6. His ERA also ballooned from 4.18 to 4.45.
Fantasy Tip: Iwakuma had been receiving pretty solid run support recently, which masked his problems a bit. He has allowed at least three earned runs in eight of his past nine outings, but he has also picked up seven or more runs of support in six of the past eight starts. He remains a decent play in most fantasy formats for his strikeout potential, but he has really tailed off in the ERA department.
Wed, 22 Jun 2016 14:20:36 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Given his inconsistency at full health, it is likely best to take a wait-and-see approach with Walker next week. He has tremendous upside, but cannot shake the rough outings and should be viewed as a high-risk, high-reward option in all fantasy formats until he proves otherwise.
