Fantasy Tip: Although Sucre ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is 1-for-2 against Pelfrey in his career, he is 3-for-35 this season and does not merit FantasyScore lineup consideration.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 10:34:54 -0700
Seattle Mariners 1B/OF Mark Trumbo will start at first base and bat seventh against Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey Sunday, Aug. 2. 1B Logan Morrison (thumb) remains out of the starting lineup and is considered day-to-day.
Fantasy Tip: Trumbo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is batting .300 with four doubles and four runs scored over the past week and is 5-for-8 versus Pelfrey in his career with a home run, making him worthy of FantasyScore consideration today.

Fantasy Tip: Nuno hasn't started this season, and he should be avoided in all fantasy formats.
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 20:27:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Smith has suffered the loss in three straight appearances, and control problems have been the main issue during his slump. He can't afford too many more poor outings and expect to continue to be the primary closer, but his impressive strikeout rate makes him worth holding on to in most leagues even if a committee develops.
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 20:21:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cruz ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) is hitting .407 with seven home runs during his current hitting streak, and he is worth every penny at FantasyScore right now.

Seattle Mariners 1B Jesus Montero will start at first base and hit seventh in the lineup Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Minnesota Twins and RHP Kyle Gibson. 1B Logan Morrison is out of the starting lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Montero ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double Friday, and he'll be a high upside option on FantasyScore with the ability to offer considerable cap relief.

Seattle Mariners 2B Ketel Marte is starting at second base and leading off Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Minnesota Twins and RHP Kyle Gibson. 2B Robinson Cano is serving as the designated hitter, and OF Austin Jackson will hit sixth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Marte went 0-for-4 with a walk in his debut Friday, but he should be given some more time before being used for FantasyScore purposes.

Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said he hopes to play DH/1B Jesus Montero "as much as possible" over the last two months of the season to evaluate his progress. After going 3-for-10 with one RBI and three walks during a brief five-game stint in the majors last month, Montero went 17-for-36 (.472) in nine games for Class AAA Tacoma and had seven extra-base hits and seven RBIs.
Fantasy Tip: Montero ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBIs in his first game back in the majors against the Minnesota Twins Friday, July 31. As long as he continues his hot hitting, he is a steal in FantasyScore and it could negatively affect the amount of playing time Logan Morrison ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) and Mark Trumbo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) see at first base and designated hitter.
Sat, 01 Aug 2015 05:29:56 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cruz ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) is showing absolutely no sign of slowing down, and he owns a .288/.351/.541 slash line with 67 home runs and 171 RBI dating back to the beginning of the 2014 season. He is elite power threat, and this season, Cruz is hitting at a .314 clip, too. He is a high-end option in all fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: With Montero ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) back in the big leagues, he could form a platoon with Morrison and start when the team faces southpaws. Don't rule out adding him in AL-only leagues as roster depth. On FantasyScore tonight, he's a deep sleeper pick with minimal appeal to daily gamers.

Seattle Mariners SS Ketel Marte is starting at second base and hitting leadoff against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Friday, July 31, in his major league debut. 2B Robinson Cano (abdomen) remains out of the lineup. OF Austin Jackson moves from the leadoff spot to sixth in the batting order.
Fantasy Tip: Marte won't be available on FantasyScore tonight after just being called up earlier in the day, but he could have short-term fantasy value with Cano dinged up. Marte's salary will likely be low on FantasyScore to be an attractive value pick. He's only 21, though, and it remains to be seen how much he'll play when Cano returns. Those in dynasty leagues and AL-only formats should jump on him immediately.
Fri, 31 Jul 2015 12:21:50 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Marte is a 21-year-old shortstop prospect for Seattle that deserves to be immediately added in dynasty and AL-only leagues if he's available. He could be a target in deep mixed leagues, too, if he sees enough playing time. Montero will likely be a bat off the bench that can fill in at catcher or first base.

Seattle Mariners SS Ketel Marte is expected to be called up from Class AAA Tacoma after the M's optioned SS Chris Taylor back to the minors Thursday, July 30. Marte was hitting .314 in 65 games for the Rainiers and was the starting shortstop for the World Team in the All-Star Futures Game.
Fantasy Tip: Marte is MLB.com's 71st-ranked prospect, and he's been on the fast track in Seattle's minor league system ever since signing out of the Dominican Republic in 2010. Marte is only 21, and even though the switch-hitter has shown an ability to make contact and hit for average in the minors, a learning curve should be expected at the major league level. He should certainly be added in all dynasty and keeper leagues if he's available.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison departed yesterday's game in the seventh inning with a thumb injury, and is being considered day-to-day. In the meantime, Trumbo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) will play at first base and offers solid home run potential. While Hughes has generally been better at home than on the road, he's given up a whopping 23 home runs this year in 130 2/3 innings pitched, making Trumbo an intriguing power play in daily lineups.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:24:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Iwakuma ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) is more of a finesse and ground-ball pitcher than a strikeout arm, and he's sporting a 5.10 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in eight starts (47 2/3 innings) this year. He's much more attractive to FantasyScore users when he starts at Safeco Field.
