Fantasy Tip: Jennings is crawling out of the gate with a .194/.267/.269 slash line. At this stage, he is a fringe fantasy asset in all seasonal leagues and should be left to the waiver wire outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only formats. Guyer has been the opposite with a .333/.471/.444 line through 34 plate appearances, and he is a potential low-priced flier in daily contests Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Moore has lasted at least 6 1/3 innings in each of his past four outings, and he has an impressive 1.03 WHIP and .217 opponent batting average despite his unimpressive 1-2 record. He remains a must-start fantasy option in most formats despite the fact he has dropped his past two outings.

Tampa Bay Rays RP Brad Boxberger (groin) emerged from a 25-pitch bullpen session feeling well Wednesday, April 27, and he is still eyeing a mid-May return. Boxberger will throw one more bullpen session before facing live hitters during batting practice.
Fantasy Tip: Boxberger should be stashed in all fantasy leagues, as he is approximately three weeks away from returning to the closer role for Tampa Bay. In his absence, Alex Colome has performed admirably with five saves and a 1.08 ERA and 9.7 K/9. Stay tuned for updates as Boxberger works his way back from the groin injury.

Fantasy Tip: Check again to see if Boxberger is available on your waiver wire. He should be stashed in all leagues since he's expected to immediately return to closing duties when he's ready. Alex Colome (four saves, 1.17 ERA) has performed admirably in the ninth inning in Boxberger's place to start the year.

Fantasy Tip: Whether this is being done to jump-start Miller's bat is a mystery. Miller has a .158 average in the past week and is hitless in three at-bats against Jimenez. Morrison has a .111 mark in the last week but has three hits in as many at-bats against the Orioles pitcher. Right now, neither player carries much fantasy value.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer scattered five hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts over 6 2/3 scoreless innings in a win Monday, April 25, against the Baltimore Orioles. It his fifth career scoreless start with at least 10 strikeouts, most in franchise history.
Fantasy Tip: Archer entered the start 0-4 with a 7.32 ERA with 11 walks and six homers allowed over 19 2/3 innings, and a WHIP at 2.08. However, with one outstanding quality start, he appears to have turned things around against a familiar foe to allay the fears of fantasy owners. This is why you do not panic on a proven guy after just a couple of poor outings.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the hitless game, Kiermaier has emerged as a must-start in all AL-only fantasy formats, some deeper mixed play and in DFS as a mid-tier OF value.
Mon, 25 Apr 2016 14:36:33 -0700
Tampa Bay Rays C Hank Conger has just four hits in 22 at-bats and opposing runners have stolen 48 straight bases off of him dating back to last season. Conger is also having trouble blocking pitches in the dirt. C Curt Casali is starting at catcher over Conger Monday, April 25.
Fantasy Tip: The Rays value their defense, so Conger could start losing significant playing time to Casali behind the plate. Neither catcher is very attractive outside of two-catcher formats, though.

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Logan Morrison is not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman Monday, April 25. OF Steve Pearce will start at first base and is batting second in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Pearce has seen solid playing time over the last week and has at least one hit in four of his last five games. Pearce could be a sleeper option for some owners in daily fantasy leagues.

Tampa Bay Rays OF Steven Souza Jr. celebrated his 27th birthday in style on Sunday, April 24, clubbing a two-run home run off New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda in the first inning to cap a five-run frame before adding a solo shot in the fifth off Pineda in the fifth.
Fantasy Tip: Souza's power display was the highlight of a five-homer barrage by the Rays. The 27-year-old is riding a bit of a hot streak lately, although he has as many strikeouts as hits (six) over the last four games. Nevertheless, Souza needs to remain in lineups as Tampa Bay begins an eight-game homestand on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles.

Tampa Bay Rays OF Desmond Jennings and C Curt Casali are not in the starting lineup against the New York Yankees Sunday, April 24. OF Corey Dickerson will bat cleanup and play left field, OF Steven Souza Jr. will bat seventh and play right field and C Hank Conger will bat ninth and start behind the plate.
Fantasy Tip: Souza is off to a decent start this year, batting .275 with three home runs and eight RBI in his first 51 at-bats. On the other hand, Conger is just 4-for-22 at the plate and has also struggled defensively, so he should be avoided for the foreseeable future in all formats.
Sat, 23 Apr 2016 08:12:46 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Conger is hitting only .200 in his limited playing time this season and probably should be avoided in all leagues.
Sat, 23 Apr 2016 08:01:29 -0700
Tampa Bay Rays OF Steven Souza is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka Saturday, April 23. OF Steve Pearce will start at third base and is batting seventh in the lineup. 3B Evan Longoria will serve as the designated hitter, while OF Corey Dickerson will start in right field.
Fantasy Tip: Pearce is receiving his third straight start and has at least one hit in seven of his last eight games. Pearce could be a cheap sleeper option in some daily fantasy leagues but is not a must-start option.
Fri, 22 Apr 2016 14:19:52 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Snell remains a stash candidate in deep mixed and AL-only formats, but for now, this news makes him nothing more than a streaming target in the majority of seasonal leagues. He is also a viable option in daily contests Saturday. Snell returned a 1.41 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP and a 10.9 K/9 over three minor league stops in 2015 to legitimize his standing as a high-end prospect.
Fri, 22 Apr 2016 13:56:12 -0700
Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier, 1B Logan Morrison and SS Brad Miller are not in the starting lineup Friday, April 22. OF Brandon Guyer is in center field and hitting second, 1B Steve Pearce is starting at first and hitting sixth, and SS Tim Beckham is at the 6 and batting eighth against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia.
Fantasy Tip: Sabathis doesn't instill fear in the opposition these days with decreased velocity and dominance. Guyer doesn't have much power but can be a rat on the basepaths as a deep daily sleeper. Pearce is another deep sleeper worth taking a look at, but he had only a .196 average and four home runs against lefties in 2015. Beckham is a desperation gamble.
