Fantasy Tip: Loney ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) went on the DL after the first game of the season, but his timing doesn't seem to have suffered during the layoff. He may not start Sunday with lefty Mark Buehrle on the mound, but Loney could be worth a flier at FantasyScore the next time the Rays face a right-handed starter.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has struggled on the mound this season and has allowed 16 runs in only 6 1/3 innings. Owners on FantasyScore should avoid Ramirez and use another option for their lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Smyly ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) threw 79 pitches and ended up with a no-decision, but he looked solid in his first start. That being said, it's not a bad idea to let Smyly have another start under his belt before deciding you can trust him at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Longoria ($4,800) has just three RBIs in 17 games this year to go along with one homer and a .218 average. He needs to start driving in runs with a lot more consistency before he is worth considering at FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Smyly ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) was a popular breakout candidate in the preseason, and he should have a solid year for his seasonal owners. However, it would be wise to avoid him in all fantasy formats Friday, especially with the news of a pitch count.

Tampa Bay Rays RP Jake McGee (elbow, back) played catch without pain from his stiff back Friday, April 24. McGee said he expects to throw a bullpen session Saturday, April 25. If all goes well, McGee will pitch in a game early next week with Single-A Charlotte, and then he could begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham. McGee is targeting the second week of May for a return to the Rays.
Fantasy Tip: Continue to stash McGee with the expectation he returns to the closer role. However, there are no guarantees he'll step right back in immediately or keep the job. Continue to check back for updates on his recovery and his return timeline.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb (elbow) said he felt "great" after throwing his first session off a mound Friday, April 24. It was the first time Cobb threw off a mound since leaving a spring training game March 17, and being diagnosed with elbow tendinitis.
Fantasy Tip: Barring any setbacks, expect Cobb ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) to return to the bump in approximately two weeks. It would be wise to allow him to work his way back into top form before utilizing him in FantasyScore contests and seasonal leagues. Continue to check back for updates on his recovery progress and an official word on when he'll return.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Martin ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) from your lineups Friday. While his batting average (.159) leaves a lot to be desired, his counting starts are impressive, as Martin has already scored nine runs, hit two home runs and drove in nine runs. When in the lineup, Martin is a nice source of cap relief for FantasyScore players. Thole is a defensive-first catcher and career .204 hitter against left-handed pitchers. Avoid him in daily contests Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Souza ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) from your fantasy lineups Friday. He had to leave the game early Wednesday, April 22, due to forearm cramps, so he is likely receiving a rest day. However, it is still worth checking back for updates to make sure it is just a routine day off. Brandon Guyer ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) draws into the lineup Friday, but he is nothing more than a low-priced flier in FantasyScore contests.

Fantasy Tip: Moore could return to the Rays rotation around the All-Star break. He'll immediately jump into the rotation, though, so he's worth stashing in most fantasy baseball formats. If he's out there in your league and you have the room on your squad, stash him away.

Fantasy Tip: Loney ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) should return to the starting first base duties now that he's back to full health. At FantasyScore, he should really only be an option for your lineups when facing right-handed pitchers, who he hit .304 (130-for-428) with eight of his nine home runs against in 2014.
Thu, 23 Apr 2015 14:00:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Seasonal owners can happily return Souza ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) to their lineups. FantasyScore players might want to be a little more cautious, though. View Souza as a high-risk, high-reward option in daily contests Thursday.
Thu, 23 Apr 2015 13:02:16 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Moore is still a long way from helping fantasy owners. Still, he is worth stashing in the majority of formats, as he projects to return around the All-Star break. Continue to check back for updates on his recovery and a timeline for his return. It isn't always a smooth transition back to the mound after Tommy John surgery, though. So keep your expectations in check.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Souza could have dodged a bullet here, as the way he left looked like a possible hamate bone injury. A cramp is nothing compared to that, obviously. Still, be careful in FantasyScore with Souza at $3,100 (or 6.2% of cap). Let him prove his health in one full game before trusting him again.

Tampa Bay Rays SP Alex Cobb (forearm) played catch without feeling any pain for the second consecutive day Wednesday, April 22. He is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session Friday, April 24. Cobb was diagnosed with forearm tendinitis in late March.
Fantasy Tip: Barring a setback, expect Cobb ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) to return to the hill in approximately two weeks. FantasyScore players would be wise to allow him to wet his feet with a few starts before utilizing in contests, though. In seasonal leagues, Cobb should continue to be stashed in all formats.
