Fantasy Tip: Mazara hasn't had a lot of hitless games so far, as the left-handed Dominican has been lights out. He is still hitting .345 with a .906 OPS even with the hitless performance.

Fantasy Tip: Perez has three quality starts in three home outings this season. He isn't a high strikeout pitcher, and he doesn't get a ton of run support for some reason. The Rangers have provided a total of 11 runs in his five starts so far this season.

Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels (groin) threw a successful second bullpen session Wednesday, April 27, and he's scheduled to return to the rotation and face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Sunday, May 1.
Fantasy Tip: Hamels isn't getting as many strikeouts as he has in the past (23 in 25 inning), but he's been efficient and has gone at least six innings in three of his four starts. Hamels has also allowed three earned runs or less in each of his outings. Facing the Angels Sunday, Hamels should be returned to starting lineups everywhere. The Halos rank dead last in the AL with a .646 OPS.

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (elbow) will need to be stretched out to 90 to 100 pitches before making his 2016 debut, according to manager Jeff Banister. Bannister projects Saturday, May 21, or Friday, May 27, as potential return dates for Darvish.
Fantasy Tip: There are still potential hiccups ahead, but fantasy owners who've patiently stashed Darvish want him healthy and available as the start-and-forget ace of their rotation. Continue to check back for updates and monitor his rehab starts, which begin with a two-inning/30-pitch outing Sunday, May 1.

Texas Rangers 1Bs Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland are not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees left-handed SP CC Sabathia Wednesday, April 27. OF Ryan Rua is the designated hitter and is batting fifth, while 2B Hanser Alberto is at first base and is hitting eighth.
Fantasy Tip: Rua hits much better in his short career against left-handers (.287 with three of his six homers), so he could be a deep sleeper worth pursuing in daily formats. Alberto has just two hits in 14 at-bats (.143) and hit .222 in 99 at-bats in 2015. He's one to avoid.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to stash the fantasy ace in all formats and monitor his progress during his rehab assignment. Darvish has an approximate return date set for Monday, May 16, and the outing Sunday will be the first of three rehab starts. Through his 83 career starts, Darvish has a 3.27 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP and a 11.2 K/9.

Fantasy Tip: Odor has been leading off the past three games, but facing a lefty, DeShields is setting the table again Wednesday. DeShields grabs a huge fantasy boost batting atop the lineup, whereas Odor's value doesn't significantly change outside of likely trading a few opportunities to score runs for RBI chances. Both are strong daily options against Sabathia Wednesday, too.

Fantasy Tip: Brinson is one of the team's top prospects that could emerge at some point this year. Keep him on your watch lists.
Wed, 27 Apr 2016 00:34:08 -0700
Texas Rangers OF Ian Desmond had two hits and scored three runs, twice on wild pitches, during a 10-1 win over the New York Yankees on Tuesday, April 26. He is hitting .448 with three home runs in his last eight games after hitting .091 with no homers in his first 12.
Fantasy Tip: Desmond was bound to come around following a very slow start to the season, and now that he has found his streak at the plate it's safer to put him on your fantasy roster.
Wed, 27 Apr 2016 00:25:16 -0700
Texas Rangers OF Nomar Mazara had two singles and scored twice on his 21st birthday Tuesday, April 26. Mazara has hit safely in 11 of 14 games, with six multi-hit games since being promoted from Triple-A Round Rock on April 10.
Fantasy Tip: As Mazara continues to hit well, the likelihood of him going down to the minors decreases. Keep him in mind for your fantasy roster as long as he continues to hit like this.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin improved to 3-0 with the win and shut down a Yankees lineup that had been pretty potent most of the season. Griffin missed most of the past two years due to Tommy John surgery, and a game like this makes Griffin look solid in fantasy circles.

Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels (groin) could return to the rotation as early as this weekend, but the Rangers have yet to make a decision on his next start. Hamels threw a 26-pitch bullpen session without problems Monday, April 25, and threw long toss Tuesday, April 26. He'll need to throw an extended bullpen Wednesday, April 27, before possibly facing the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Saturday, April 30. SP Cesar Ramos could step in for Hamels this weekend if needed.
Fantasy Tip: If Hamels doesn't have any setbacks tomorrow, expect him to make his second start against the Angels this season on Saturday. Despite only 23 strikeouts in 25 innings, Hamels hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his four starts this year. The Halos are one of the weaker hitting offenses in the AL, too, so returning Hamels to your lineups would be advised.

Texas Rangers SP Cesar Ramos made the start Monday, April 25, against the New York Yankees in place of the injured SP Cole Hamels (groin). He allowed three earned runs, nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts over six innings in a loss.
Fantasy Tip: This might be a one-off start for Ramos. Avoid him in AL-only fantasy leagues unless the team gives him another start.
Mon, 25 Apr 2016 21:19:52 -0700
Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (calf) hit soft toss and jogged on a treadmill for the first time Monday, April 25, since injuring his right calf April 9. He hopes to return sooner than the four-to-six-week timetable.
Fantasy Tip: Choo's return would make things interesting for Nomar Mazara and Ian Desmond, who should continue to see regular starts. It's still a couple weeks away, though. Keep Choo stashed in most formats.

Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels (hamstring) threw a 26-pitch bullpen session Monday, April 25, and experienced no issues. He could return to the rotation as early as Saturday, April 30, opposite the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Fantasy Tip: Those who own Hamels in weekly leagues can breathe a sigh of relief now, as it was possible Hamels could've missed the whole week if today's bullpen didn't turn out well. Instead, there were no complications, and the veteran southpaw should be all systems go for his next assignment. Considering the Angels are last in baseball in team batting average, there's a solid chance Hamels churns out another quality outing.
