Fantasy Tip: Mazara has earned regular playing time and the left-handed hitting rookie has his average up to .333 with three homers and nine RBIs. He is a must-start fantasy option in AL-only leagues, deeper mixed formats and a must-have in long-term keeper formats.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin has lasted at least six innings in four of his five outings this season, and he has five or more strikeouts in each of his four past assignments. He is a solid fantasy option across all formats with a 3-0 record and 2.32 ERA with 26 strikeouts across 31 innings and a 1.00 WHIP.

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (knee) will sit out until at least Friday, May 6, before restarting his rehab assignment so that the 20-day "clock" can be reset. Hamilton felt weakness and pain in the back of his left knee over the weekend and received a cortisone shot. General manager Jon Daniels said the team has no expectations for Hamilton to return to full health.
Fantasy Tip: So basically the aging Hamilton will never be at 100% with his knee again in his career, and he's fighting an uphill battle to return to regular playing time for the Rangers this year. The fact that Texas has other options (Ian Desmond, Nomar Mazar, Shin-Soo Choo) at the corner outfield spots also means the Rangers have no reason to rush him back. Only keep Hamilton stashed in the deepest of mixed leagues and AL-only formats. Don't expect much from him from here on out.

Fantasy Tip: Darvish remains on track for a return either Saturday, May 21, or Friday, May 27. Continue to stash him in all formats and monitor his return progress. Darvish has been a fantasy ace since entering the league with a 3.27 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP and a 11.2 K/9 through 83 starts.

Fantasy Tip: Darvish is expected to return in late May, and he should be stashed in all formats in the meantime.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for an updated timetable, but there is a good chance Hamilton won't be a useful contributor at any point this season.

Fantasy Tip: Holaday has gone hitless in his last nine at-bats and can be avoided by owners in all leagues.

Texas Rangers OF Shin-soo Choo (calf) is feeling better, as he recovered from a strained right calf, but he is still at least seven to 10 days from appearing in minor-league rehab games.
Fantasy Tip: Avoid using Choo in the active fantasy lineup and DFS play until he can officially return and play a handful of games to prove his health and knock off the rust.

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos (forearm) will have more scans Tuesday, May 3, to determine if he is healed enough to resume baseball activities and minor-league rehab games. He has been catching balls from a machine in the batting cage and running.
Fantasy Tip: Avoid Chirinos in all fantasy leagues until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game. Brett Nicholas and Bryan Holaday are holding down the fort behind the dish until Chirinos is healthy enough to return.

Fantasy Tip: Odor started the season a bit slowly, but heh as hit safely in four straight and six of the past seven to raise his average from .233 to .264 just since April 22. He remains a must-start in all AL-only leagues, most mixed formats and DFS play.

Texas Rangers SS Ian Desmond went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI Friday, April 29, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He is hitting .394 over the past 10 games after hitting .091 over his first 12 outings.
Fantasy Tip: Desmond is red hot and a must-start in all fantasy formats, and he is a good DFS value since his salary was held down due to his earlier poor start.

Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis allowed two runs and nine hits over seven innings in a win against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, April 29. Lewis entered the game 6-11 with a 6.82 ERA in his career against the Angels. Lewis did not record a strikeout for the first time in 117 regular season and postseason starts, since May 2011.
Fantasy Tip: Lewis was a risky fantasy option and DFS play, especially since he was facing a red-hot Hector Santiago. However, the risk paid off for contrarian players.

Texas Rangers manager Jeff Banister is considering using a six-man rotation when SP Yu Darvish (elbow) is activated from the disabled list. If all goes well with his rehab, Darvish could return to action in late May, and the Rangers will play 43 games in a 45-day stretch between May 27 and July 10.
Fantasy Tip: None of the Rangers' current starters has pitched poorly enough to be demoted to the bullpen and Banister is also taking each pitcher's recent injury history into account when it comes to a possible six-man rotation. Darvish, along with SPs Martin Perez and A.J. Griffin, have each undergone Tommy John surgery in the last three years, while SP Derek Holland missed most of the previous two seasons due to various injuries and SP Cole Hamels has battled a recent hamstring issue. A six-man rotation would negatively impact owners of Texas starters in seasonal leagues due to the slim chances of any pitcher receiving two starts in the same week.

Confirming a previous report, Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Class AA Frisco Saturday, April 30. He will play five innings in the outfield during his first rehab game.
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton is projected to be a platoon player in either left field or right field once he returns from the disabled list. His age (34), declining skills and injury history limit his fantasy appeal to AL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Mazara hasn't had a lot of hitless games so far, as the left-handed Dominican has been lights out. He is still hitting .345 with a .906 OPS even with the hitless performance.
