Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo didn't allow a run over 13 2/3 innings in two starts against the Toronto Blue Jays this year. Gallardo faces the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the American League Division Series Thursday, Oct. 8.
Fantasy Tip: Gallardo ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has been decent to close out the year but allows more baserunners than you'd like to see, and against this heavy-hitting Toronto team, that could lead to bunches of runs quickly. He's the cheapest FantasyScore pitcher out of four for today's games.

Fantasy Tip: The Blue Jays had the highest OPS (.818) against left-handers this season, making Perez ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) an extremely risky FantasyScore pick in the divisional round.

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland is not in the lineup against Toronto Blue Jays left-handed SP David Price for Game 1 of the division series Thursday, Oct. 8. 1B Mike Napoli is starting at first base and is batting fifth.
Fantasy Tip: Napoli ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) did have 18 home runs on the season, and he does have two career home runs in 38 at-bats against Price. However, he also hit just .224 (91-for-407) on the year and struck out 118 times. Twelve of Napoli's 18 dingers this year were against lefties, but Price isn't your run-of-the-mill southpaw. Napoli is a gamble on FantasyScore today.

Fantasy Tip: The Rangers face the highest-scoring team in baseball to open the playoffs, so using their starting pitchers on FantasyScore comes with a good amount of risk, and both venues in this series are heavily tilted toward the hitters.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has 33 RBIs in his last 23 games, and an MLB-high 53 RBIs in 48 games since Aug. 15. He has 83 RBIs overall. What was that about Beltre being not 100 percent when he was hurt earlier this season? Beltre will be a strong option again in 2016.
Sun, 04 Oct 2015 15:40:28 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Choo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) started out poorly in Texas but he closed the regular season hitting .276 with over 20 homers and 80 RBIs. He could be a sleeper heading into 2016 for people who still dismiss him as a lightweight thanks to that big free-agent deal.

Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels allowed three hits Sunday, Oct. 4, as the Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 9-2. The win clinched the American League West for Texas and knocked the Angels out of playoff contention.
Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) will be one of the top AL pitchers moving forward in most fantasy drafts. With a strong lineup behind him that could be augmented in free agency, Hamels could benefit from a full season in Arlington next year.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has battled injuries all year, and while he has shown rare flashes of his upside, he is nothing more than a roll-of-the-dice play at FantasyScore.
Sat, 03 Oct 2015 01:30:20 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Choo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has come alive somewhat after a slow start to his Rangers career. He may not be worth the huge contract Texas gave him, but Choo may be a decent backup outfielder for your team in 2016.
Fri, 02 Oct 2015 18:23:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Deshields ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has appeared in all but one game since Sept. 11, and had scored 17 runs in his last 19 games entering play Friday, Oct. 2, so the injury hasn't impacted him too negatively. He makes a solid value play in FantasyScore.

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez has three straight wins in his last four starts at home with a 2.28 ERA in those starts. Perez allowed two unearned runs in six innings against the Houston Astros his last time out. He faces the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, Oct. 2.
Fantasy Tip: The Angels have been pretty bad against lefties all season long but swung the bats better during a playoff push in September. There's still a lot on the line here, so Perez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is a risk/reward play on FantasyScore tonight.
Fri, 02 Oct 2015 09:18:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has hit well since his return from the DL, going 3-for-8 (.375) with a home run and one run driven in. The Rangers are trying to get him back up to full speed for the playoffs next week, and he can be a nice value pick at catcher if he's in the lineup to close out the regular season.
Thu, 01 Oct 2015 20:47:01 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Over his last three games, Beltre ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has a home run, three doubles, seven RBI and four runs scored. Don't hesistate to start him at FantasyScore.
Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:18:01 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Napoli ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is boom or bust typically in daily formats, but he is batting .283 (41-for-145) with 11 of his 17 home runs this year off southpaws. Norris is also allowing 1.4 home runs per nine innings in 2015, so it could be the perfect storm for a FantasyScore breakthrough tonight.

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton could become the team's regular left fielder just three weeks after he had surgery on his left knee. Manager Jeff Bannister has left that possibility open that Hamilton won't be limited to starting against right-handed pitchers. Four of the Rangers' final six regular season games are against left-handed pitchers. Hamilton played the entire game Saturday, Sept. 26, and said his knee felt better as the game went on.
Fantasy Tip: You'll only want to consider Hamilton ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) if he's starting against a right-handed pitcher on FantasyScore. Against lefties this year he's hitting just .229 (11-for-48) with two of his six home runs. Mike Napoli ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) loses major fantasy value in the closing week.
