Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is a candidate to be traded, to alleviate a logjam of left-handed hitters and give the team balance, but he is owed $102 million over the next five seasons, and his contract includes a limited no-trade clause that allows him to block deals to 10 clubs. In order to trade him, the team likely would need to throw in significant cash, prospects and take back expensive talent in return.
Fantasy Tip: Choo has struggled against left-handed pitching this season, posting a weak .481 OPS in 120 plate appearances. FantasyScore players will want to avoid Choo ($4,200; or 8.4% of cap) vs. LHP, although he still has a solid .854 OPS vs. RHP.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($4,900; or 9.8% of cap) has re-emerged as a useful FantasyScore option, particularly on the road. He is 5-0 with a 2.23 ERA with 42 strikeouts over 48 1/3 innings, while going 0-4 with a 7.42 ERA in six starts at home. He probably wants to get traded, too, as he doesn't look comfortable at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is not a candidate for the disabled list as of yet, but stay tuned. Hamilton has had a hard time staying healthy as of late, so you may want to wait until he is healthy and even allow an extra day or two to recover.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) suffered just his fourth loss of the season, and he does have an 8-4 record. Lewis has had a good year and he was 4-1 with a 5.00 ERA in his last seven appearances. Chalk this up to bad luck.

Fantasy Tip: Like with Shin-Soo Choo, Martin ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) appears to be getting a normal night off, as he hasn't had one this week. Rosales ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has hit .176 in the past month and carries little fantasy value.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal night off for Choo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap), who has been in all six games this week leading up to Sunday. Rua ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) carries little fantasy value with a .182 average in the past week.

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. (hamstring) came off the 15-day disabled list and is hitting leadoff Sunday, July 5, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. 2B Hanser Alberto was optioned to Class AAA Round Rock in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: DeShields ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) may need a day or two to get acclimated again, so keep an eye on how he does before putting any money down in FantasyScore formats.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is 5-0 on the road, which makes him a very disappointing FantasyScore asset. While his home/road splits are bound to even out eventually, Rodriguez has a 4.28 xFIP, and he's not usually worth FantasyScore consideration.

Texas Rangers C Carlos Corporan is making the start behind the plate Saturday, July 4, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Corporan will hit eighth in the order against LHP Hector Santiago, while C Robinson Chirinos comes out of the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has gone 4-for-10 in his last three starts, with one double and one home run. FantasyScore owners can consider Corporan for use in GPP tournaments.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 14:35:03 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Rua ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is hitting just .208 with three solo homers this season, and he's not much of an option on FantasyScore.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 14:28:45 -0700
Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton isn't in the starting lineup Saturday, July 4, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. OF Ryan Rua will start in left field and hit second in the order against LHP Hector Santiago.
Fantasy Tip: Rua ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is hitting just .182 against southpaws this season, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore, even with the high spot in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison was 1-3 in five starts at Class AAA. Harrison's ERA was an unimpressive 5.97, and he was only striking out 5.65 batters per nine innings. FantasyScore owners will need to see some positive results before investing in the Rangers' one-time ace.
Sat, 04 Jul 2015 14:22:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) opened the season with four strong starts, but he's been roughed up in two of his last three. Gonzalez wasn't able to strikeout more than four batters in any one of his seven starts this season, and he's unlikely to re-emerge as a fantasy option.

Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison (back) will be activated from the 60-day disabled list Friday, July 3, according to general manager Jon Daniels. Harrison is expected to make his season debut Tuesday, July 7, against the Arizona Diamondbacks, manager Jeff Banister said.
Fantasy Tip: Coming off a long layoff, you can afford to take a wait-and-see approach with Harrison before considering him as an option FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is 12-for-37 (.324) with six home runs and 10 RBI since June 23 even after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts last night. His 14 homers show he has plenty of power to spare, and he makes for a great value play on FantasyScore while he's hot, especially against Gausman, who is making only his second start this season.
