Fantasy Tip: If you have a spot available on your roster, you should probably act quickly to secure Gallo's services. The 22-year-old phenom underwhelmed last year in his first taste of the big leagues, but he's been dominating this season at Class AAA Round Rock, where he's registered a .265/.415/.639 line with eight homers and 20 RBI in just 24 games. With both Shin-Soo Choo and Drew Stubbs landing on the disabled list Monday, there will be openings to get Gallo in the lineup regularly, and don't forget the team can also implement him at both corners of the diamond as well as at designated hitter. He has tremendous upside.

Fantasy Tip: With both Stubbs and Shin-Soo Choo landing on the DL, this may provide the biggest boost for top prospect Joey Gallo, who was just called up by the team. Although he hasn't played the outfield yet this season, he'll probably get some starts out there to get his bat in the lineup, and he'll also get time at first base and designated hitter. Outfielders Ryan Rya and Jared Hoying -- who was also just promoted -- will benefit, too.

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (hamstring) went back on the disabled list Monday, May 23. He strained his left hamstring while running the bases in his first game back from a previous DL stint Friday, May 20, against the Houston Astros.
Fantasy Tip: Choo has had some injury issues in recent years and it's only gotten worse in 2016, as his first extended stint on the sidelines lasted 40 days. Hopefully his latest trip to the DL won't last as long, but it's still troubling to see him getting banged up so often. Jared Hoying was called up for the first time to take his spot, and has some potential in deeper leagues based on his solid start at Class AAA. Ryan Rua benefits, too.

Fantasy Tip: Hoying will get his first big league opportunity with Shin-Soo Choo returning to the disabled list. He'll at least have some potential in deep leagues, as he produced a nifty .319/.409/.550 line in 41 games at Class AAA Round Rock.

Fantasy Tip: The Rangers weren't really expecting anything from their former MVP winner anyway, and luckily for them, they're not the ones paying for most of his massive salary. It's an ominous sign for the 35-year-old Hamilton, who could be nearing the end of his career as he continues to have trouble staying on the field. Ryan Rua and Drew Stubbs will continue to benefit the most in his absence.

Fantasy Tip: Odor's fantasy owners will need a plan in place starting this weekend. Jurickson Profar could fill in, and he could make a sneaky option in daily formats until Odor returns.

Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels won his career-best 12th straight decision and struck out a season-high 11 against the Houston Astros Sunday, May 22. Hamels allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits over eight innings.
Fantasy Tip: Hamels isn't a fantasy ace, but he is proving to be a solid No. 2 fantasy starter this season.

Fantasy Tip: The decision to disable Choo will come down to whether or not Rougned Odor is suspended for the full eight games. Odor will have his appeal hearing early in the week. The team does not want to have a 23-man roster for several games and would rather lose one player at a time. As for Choo's fantasy status, right now it is hampered because of his injury history.

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (hamstring), 2B Rougned Odor and 1B Mitch Moreland are not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Sunday, May 22. OF Drew Stubbs will start in right field and is batting first. OF Ryan Rua will start at first base and is batting seventh, while 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at second base and is batting ninth.
Fantasy Tip: Stubbs, Rua and Alberto have all posted disappointing numbers over the past seven days and can all be avoided in daily fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Don't panic too much about Andrus' lack of power, as he had a .258-7-62 line a year ago. Anbrus won't hit 30 homers in a season, but he had 154 hits and is still a decent person when it comes to hitting for average and stolen bases (25 a year ago).

Texas Rangers SP Cesar Ramos yielded two hits and one run while fanning four in six innings Saturday, May 21, for his first win this year in his third start and fifth appearance. The Rangers beat the Houston Astros, 2-1.
Fantasy Tip: Ramos has now allowed two runs in 11 innings, a sign that he may be finally adjusting to his new surroundings. Ramos allowed three runs on April 25 and four runs on May 9. Wait and see if he has these yips out of his system before investing a roster spot on him.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan Rua is a candidate to replace Choo, but he doesn’t offer much upside in daily formats.
Sat, 21 May 2016 19:18:19 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Some rust wouldn't be out of the question, but he has enough upside to start in season-long formats in his return from Tommy John surgery.
Sat, 21 May 2016 13:45:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Odor has a .286-4-7 line this month, and he's a daily consideration at second. Rua is hitting .243 this month, and he doesn't have a ton of offensive upside against Mike Fiers today.
Sat, 21 May 2016 04:46:22 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for the outcome of the injury, as the team will likely run a few tests. Right now the injury does not look serious, but it could cause Choo to miss a game or two at the most.
