NFL | Several drug testing revisions announced

According to the new NFL policy on drug testing, a first positive test for steroids, stimulants, human growth hormone or other banned substances will result in a four-game suspension. A second positive test carries a 10-game suspension, and a third positive test will result in a two-year suspension. The use of a diuretic or masking agent will result in a two-game suspension. Evidence of an attempt to manipulate a test will result in a six-game suspension.

The NFL and NFLPA have reached an agreement to a new drug testing policy. An announcement is expected soon.

Fantasy Tip: Wes Welker may be eligible to play in Week 3. He is priced at $3,700 (7.4% of your cap) on FantasyScore, but they are playing the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3. He's a cheap gamble to take, but temper expectations. Josh Gordon could be eligible to return later this season as well.

Former Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice and the NFL Players Association plan to appeal his indefinite suspension by filing a grievance as soon as Monday, Sept. 15, according to sources. Rice is also contemplating legal action with all options remaining on the table following his increased discipline from the league, and a source noted the potential "double-jeopardy" aspect of the former NFL player being punished twice for the same offense.
